Moving RM (Please Read)

Postby ultraslacker » Sat Jan 14, 2012 12:49 pm

Starting tomorrow (Sunday), I will be moving RM to a new host because our old one is lapsed.

This is a bit of a process and there WILL be downtime.

I will have to close the forum first, then move everything to the new server. Then I have to wait for the new host's support team to restore everything to working order.

Also, the domain servers will have to change, which means that there will be more downtime while the internet at large figures out our new address. Don't worry when I say "new address": it is still runningmania.com and nothing will change from your perspective. But it means that RM will not work in the meantime. This can take up to a couple of days, depending on where you live and how long it takes the settings to change locally. Some people will be back on the site faster than others; that is normal.

For updates or information during the downtime, you can visit RM's facebook page (there are actually two, but this is the one that we use the most:
http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/groups/2247894354/).

And if I'm not too swamped I'll post twitter updates as well (@rmnation).

Questions?

During any successful session, one might and should have a moment of truth, "should I continue or just walk home?". If you don't break down, the same thing might happen a few hundred steps later, but you already dealt with that issue. This usually happens in the second half, anyways. The satisfaction one derives later, when at home, is extremely gratifying, and is a build up like no other to further efforts.

hey everyone, sorry for all the delays and downtime! we're back!

had to prune a ton of posts in order to make the db a little smaller... unfortunately, this means the loss of some of the oldest NRR posts (2005-2006). However, we were able to retain all running-related threads and all the important stuff. :)

Thanks also to abird's hubby, who took the time to help me when I was frustrated. :)

alright, so now that we're all set up on the new host, I'm going to try to update the main site a bit (ok some of that stuff is REALLY OLD!). But not tonight.
