January 2009 Totals!

Postby ultraslacker » Sat Jan 31, 2009 3:09 pm

I can't believe no one started this thread yet. :P

anyway, it's been ages since I reported... but 2009 is a new year so I will start again.

January: 90.5 miles (146km)

Not nearly what I wanted it to be thanks to being sick, giving blood, and the whole passing out thing... but at least I got in the long runs that I wanted. February should be much higher, barring any unforeseen complications. :P

163 Km for me. That's a little short of the plan (190), but still more than the previous two months combined. I had a rough patch with low energy for a week, the other 3 were on target. I haven't actually misplaced my mojo, I just forget where I put it some days! Time to get serious, ATB is just 8 weeks out, plus I'm doing a half marathon two weeks before that in sunny Nevada. Any February races are optional, last minute decisions.

Bike: 8h 11m
Run: 7h 39m 03s - 60.75 KM ~ 7:30/km
Crossfit: 2h 55m

crossfit is the circuit training in my post-natal bootcamp class.

Just wrapped up my last long run of the month, starting to ramp up the miles again, did 189 miles this month, compared to 192 last year at this time. A minor foot ailment forced me to cut back a few runs, but I did 31 runs this month to keep the streaking going.

You often say that. I don't see them as excuses but explanations, context if you will.

Funny, I was going to say the exact same thing. Explanations and context don't imply guilt or something that needs excusing. One could just as likely provide explanation or context for a month that far exceeded their goals or expectations. That wouldn't be seen as an "excuse", would it?

WTF!?! Holy moly, send some of that (discipline, energy, motivation... whatever the secret!) my way. :)

ETA: Heh... I suppose some of the speed would help, too. ;)

My stats (phew, been a while since I posted these!):

12 runs, 95.25km (my highest months since May 2008, by at least 25km, usually far more! Am I finally getting back into this?)
4 soccer games
7 strength/stretch sessions (though a few were only 20 minutes)

and.... a total of about 16 minutes of rope jumping :D hee hee

And I'd like to point out that two of those runs were on a treadmill, to get some speed work in! Yay!

This is the first month I've ever kept track of kilometres run. Tracking my runs has been one of my New Years' Resolutions.

Here's January

118K

Not bad considering that I only ran twice in the first two weeks of January.
From the 11th on I got in 4 runs a week which is bang on my training schedule. YIPPEE.
On the books for 2017:

That's awesome, Ian-- about 150K/week for you.

258K for me in January.

I'm reasonably satisfied with that, even with getting sidelined this week. I got in some solid training overall, and hope to be able to stay mostly stay on track next month.

Was mine an "excuse"-- I don't think so.

I also think people are allowed to write whatever they want about how much/why/when/where they run. :)

10 Runs = 40.73KM
7 Swims = 14.1 KM
3 Spins = 3:25 total time
1 Snowshoe = 3.85KM
Resistance/weights = 4 hours
Downhill skiing = 8.5 hours 8)

Lots of cross training, a bit of running, which is only going to increase slow but sure!

you're both right.

I guess "excuses" is not the right word. I find that whenever I open the "totals thread", it's usually people reporting their totals and then "reasons" why it's not as high as they'd like it to be.

Reading post after post of "well, I didn't do as much as I'd wanted" makes it seem like there are a lot of "excuses." Each post individually probably isn't that bad, but, collectively, it gets kinda sad to read them all.

if that makes any sense.

Some impressive numbers, everyone. I ran for 267.5 km this month. I actually strength trained and did core work 12 times. A new record for me!

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.
