TRX Anyone

Postby HCcD » Tue Dec 14, 2010 2:13 pm

Anyone experienced the TRX Feeling ? Comments ? Thoughts ??

http://www.youtube.com/user/FitnessAnywhere

My local GoodLife is currently in the process of setting up one of those systems at the Club ... Not sure if they will be offering "Free Group Training" or only available individually one-on-one via Personal Training Services or will it be open to the general members for use ???

Not easy. You find muscles you never had before.

Awesome full body stuff.

Did a metabolic workout workshop in August with Fraser Quelch (multiple Ironman to boot) he had a room of 40 some of us huffing and puffing within 5 minutes of the workshop.

I use it with a lot of my clients. GL may not have it sitting around though, imagining that they will be getting the trainers certified and then go from there.

Great device, you can do a lot with it and it makes you engage muscles you never knew you had.

Here's a link that someone I know has used to order a TRX. Best price out there, I'm pretty sure. I haven't jumped onto the TRX bandwagon yet 'cause I've been resisting and my coach has given me a custom functional training program. I've been sore for weeks! Ouch!

At the opposite end of the spectrum, I was able to use it throughout my pregnancy. I really like the emphasis that theTRX puts on core muscles, as well I have found it an effective training tool for correcting leg imbalances.

We were responsible for paying for our own training, so GL may want to go that route as is was about $250USD.

The place I teach at does offer TRX based classes, so GL may also do that. They are quite popular and are now combined with other varieties of classes (TRX/cycle, TRX/kettlebell, TRX circuit, etc).
If all that you read is everything you believe then let go, then let go, then let go.

Nothing will change if you never choose.

So, I've been trying it for 4 days.

a) be ready to watch on-line videos to learn how to do the exercises and plan your own workouts.
b) I have DOMS in some of my best muscle groups indicating that I am working at a higher level.
c) I already was doing free weights and core, and find the TRX versions much more difficult. If I had not already worked on my shoulders, I might find the TRX impossible.

This equipment is not for sissies. You have to want to work, or its too hard and you won't. OTOH, if you do want to work, it is fabulous!

So, I half-built mine (I couldn't find any scrap PVC yet, it's coming), and it's a pretty decent workout, though without handles, you get massive strap-burn.

Really enjoying the inverted rows and pushups. This is really going to help with my boxing. Can't wait to try the more advanced stuff.

Andy, did you find out the answer to this yet? I asked and apparently you can use it with your personal trainer, and some of the PTs are being trained on it and will offer classes (which the person I talked to freely admitted that it's a slightly obnoxious use of space, particularly if it happens at a busy time).
