August goals

Postby Dstew » Tue Jul 31, 2012 7:27 pm

For August I hope to do around 80 Kilometers per week for a total of around 320 kilometers for the month. I also plan to add in some more marathon pace runs and some Hanson Brother's "speed and strength" workouts as have tried one of each and they are fun. If the training goes well, a night time 10 K run on the 18th.

I would really like to hit 100 miles for the first time this year.

August 11 is a trail race... I'm not in shape for a stellar time, so my goal is to finish well and have fun. :)

Also continuing mtb.

Program calls for 200km, I think my achilles woes are mostly over so I will try to ensure I do all my workouts in August. I am also hoping to fit in a couple of bike commutes (starting tomorrow)

I think I'll end up with 325 km but would really like to get 350 but that seems unlikely. Most likely I'll be racing a half this month but will decide for sure on the 8th and I'm also going on a mini golf vacation so getting the mileage in might be a challenge.

Any thoughts of a duathlon this season is out the window, as my lack of cycling is just not there, for whatever reason this year ... as well as, starting to save some$$ to fund my NYC and Goofy Race Weekend, over the next 5-6 months ... :what: :(

Another month of building for NYC, and looking to continue with consistency in my running which should likely bring me in at around 325K or so .... Will also continue to hit the Club for regular resistance training workouts, just to help to balance out my imbalances, as a result of all the running and hope to reduce the risk of overuse injuries, as my mileage ramps up for my fall/winter races ..

I have a 10-mile race on August 12, so that's my main focus for the next 12 days. Just like last month's race goals, I feel like I am going in under-trained (at least, not specifically trained for this race), so I will be racing on base fitness, which I hope is good enough to give me a finishing time between 1:30-1:36.
I'm also training for a half on September 23, so I need to increase my mileage this month.

My plan is to stick to the plan (for the most part). My training schedule calls for around 330K this month, but with a week of camping in the Adirondacks in the middle of that, there may be some trail runs of significant length mixed in there too.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

My plan is about the same as last month, 175-200k, 5 days a week, with another 5k race in there.

And here I was thinking 300km for August sounded reasonable. Which it is. So, at least 300km for August.

I am hoping that I will run my half-marathon on the 19th of August, and then do a gentle recovery run, and THEN, keep running, and not sit on my butt, patting myself on the back for five months.

Just two more runs on the schedule for this month so I'm not quite going to make my goal - only managed one bike day and one extra run. I was quite fatigued the rest of that week so will be sticking to four runs a week. If I do my remaining scheduled runs this month I will have 191 - 193.

Ended up with only 25x runs this month, and 309K, a bit shy of my projected 325K, mainly due to some extra r&r days taken, as a result of a few races ... 1x 30K, 1x 10K and 1x 5K .... :P

I still have one more run to do today, so my mileage will come in around 125K, which is more than double what I did last month. That's good.

I had a solid race on August 12, coming in at 1:34 (right where I wanted to be), but I've switched my 1/2M race in September to a relay, so I'll only be running 10.55K.

Another month of marathon training under the racebelt.

362K including one eversoslightly disappointing 10 mile race.

The first few weeks of September will be heavy training weeks, but will taper off by the end of the month as Scotia gets closer.

I was hoping to find a half marathon either 2 or 4 weeks out, but most of them are 3 weeks out which is when I want to get my last 32K run in! TIming all sucks!

There is one in Orillia I'm looking at next weekend. It's a maybe.

Success. 8)

With some ups and downs it's been overall a very good month of rehab/recovery. In July I had just started getting back to running and ran (with walk breaks) about 43K.

In August I have been able to consistently run about 5 times/week for a total of 117K- a lot more than I expected.

I have also done 11 cycling workouts of various lengths (sometimes only 15-20 minutes of warmup before the bike, some stand-alone cycling workouts), two Grouse Grind, some other hiking, and a few strength workouts. Oh, and one swim.

Met these goals, except for time off for vacation (which is allowed in my definition of "consistently").

didn't quite make goal, but hit 89 miles instead. Still my highest month so far this year. Race is done and have made it to mtb most weeks. :)

With a nice easy 40 K run today, the month's total is 396.5.

This included a two day golf vacation in Whistler at the beginning of the month and a three day golf vacation in Saskatoon at the end of the month.

Starting to feel the effects of marathon training but 36 days and 9 hours until the race, one more hard week and then slowly start to taper.

Ended up with 325 km but I missed two key workouts in the past couple of weeks. Haven't been feeling that great about this training cycle and also have been feeling under the weather for the past few days. I hope for a better September but time is running out fast.

2 camping trips messed with mileage a bit- ended up with 290K, but some of the runs that were missed were made up for by hiking up mountains and portaging/ paddling canoes, so I think it ended up okay.
