No specific training / mileage goals this month, other than recovering from this bug that I picked up in late September and allowing my right foot to heal properly ... though, still have a 1:45:xx pace bunny gig @9 Run Run, later in the month ...

I'm tapering for the first half of Oct, then hoping to crack 4:30 for the marathon on San Fran. This has been a good training session but I just don't know if I have the fitness to manage that on a hilly course.

Just tallied the mileage on my schedule- just over 400km! I don't foresee any reason to miss any runs this month, so I think it's going to be my biggest ever.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Running the half in the Scotiabank waterfront marathon. Hoping to finish around the 2h30 min mark just somewhere about average for me. I am continuing to practise the run walk thing that I have never tried before in hopes of completing my first full in just under the 6 hour mark. (October 21, Detroit).

Running a 50-miler in the early part of Oct, so that will boost the mileage a little -- but then there's that recovery thing, so who knows where I will end up.... :D

Mar - Around the Bay 30 km - Done
May - Sulphur Spring 100 miler - DNS
Sept - Army HM
Sept/Oct - 50 miler
Oct - Pace Bunny - Toronto Scotia Waterfront

Well just 13 more days of taper, then Scotia full, after that - I have no idea. Lots of recovery, and a trip to Hawaii in early November!

I am going to post here... hoping it will keep me accountable. ;)

I foolishly (almost) doubled my running mileage last month (36 to 65 km). I know better than that. And the crazy thing is that a lot of those runs were not great - my legs were heavy, knees sore and I even had numbness in my legs and feet.... so why did I keep going?

I have an appointment with a Physiotherapist appointment to get my back/upper hips/neck checked out. I know my issue stems from a couple of stupid things I've done recently.... using head (literally) to hold up overhead drywall pieces as I screwed them in last spring and carrying 50 lbs down the Grand Canyon this summer wasn't too smart either!

So, this month my goal is get my back looked at and start a cross training program - elliptical, cycling, rowing, running, walk/hiking and weights. Things are a bit slow at work so there is no reason for me not to go to the gym at least 4 times each week. I am going to dial back the running until I get my back and knee issues solved. I think the knee thing is IT band syndrome which is caused by over usage. No brainer! I had it much worse a few years ago and don't want that again - it hurts!!!!

Running 26.2 miles is not limited by physical capabilities but rather by the mind.

I have yet to hit 100 miles in a month so far this year. So that will be my October goal.

Hoping to PR at the Scotia half this month - it's only my second half, so I think this is a reasonable possibility. Then a couple of easy weeks, and closing out the month by pacing a friend in her first 5k on the 28th.
PR's so far: 5K 27:15, 10K 55:25, 21.1K 2:10:53, 42.2K 5:21:27
Upcoming: Toronto Women's 5k in May, STWM Half in October

Hope to hit the A goal at the STWM, maybe even the A+ If not, have the Downsview Half in my back pocket as an alternate a month later. Probably going to stop using the RR training plans after this one. I feel they "peak" a little early and don't include enough running at goal pace.

Finished the month at 387 km. Missed 2 runs- one for a foot pain that I wanted to get checked out before running on it, and another for a tummy bug that had me puking violently. I think this may be my highest mileage month ever!

240K and a somewhat decent/somewhat dissapointing marathon at Scotia. I have had some FANTASTIC runs since the marathon though, and am enjoying this 'run without a plan' time.

Running the the RR group more as well, and this has been really enjoyable! I'm just keeping my face there for when I begin leading the half clinic in January. So far that has meant some ad hoc group leading a few times.

The good news is that my right foot is feeling a lot better .. however, the not so good news is that my left foot is now afunct ... :? As a result, I have been forced to cancel both my NYC Marathon in November, as well as decided, as well, to cancel my 2013 Goofy Challenge and defer it to 2014 ... Goal, now is to rest up and recover for the remainder of 2012 ....

It doesn't feel like I ran a marathon this month because the weather was so nice on that day and the week leading up to it. It has rained pretty much every day since then. I missed my 3:30 goal by 4 1/2 minutes. I left way too much in the tank so I don't think I put in a hard enough effort. But really, I didn't have the confidence that I could do it so the conservative side of me took over in the last 12k. The only thing that would give me that confidence is to run a sub 1:35 half.

Total mileage was 212 km.
