Ten Training Tips from Lagat, Ritz, and Abdi

Postby Jwolf » Sat Mar 16, 2013 5:16 pm

A good article from Letsrun:

"Ten Training Tips from Bernard Lagat, Dathan Ritzenhein, and Abdi Abdirahaman"

These guys are some of the best runners in the world, yet their advice rings true for recreational runners too.

I love that #1 is "Stay Healthy." I ran my two marathon PBs (NYC 2011 and London 2012) when under-trained due to injuries sustained during training. If I'd tried to do all the mileage, I likely wouldn't have been able to start (let alone finish with a PB). I went into those races well rested and almost fully recovered from my earlier injuries.

I like the first tip, too. It is something I have certainly come to realize: I have to stay healthy, first and foremost, to run at all.
