http://www.williamsichel.co.uk/

"William is a British and Scottish international athlete and has set multiple ultra distance running records (from 100 miles to 1000 miles) at World, British and Scottish level including age-group records,
classic event records and Guinness World Records"

Sites like these give me a headache; I saw his training video on You tube. And, no, he doesn't run barefoot (yet).

I've been meaning to add this here...

Liz Bauer, 53, is planning on running 30 100 milers this year. She's just finished her 15th at the end of May. She kicked off the year with HURT100 and I think she's got Hardrock on her agenda as well. Tough as nails... Her boyfriend Scott Brockmeier joined her in the challenge (though he's not on track to finish 30 this year) is writing a blog and posting race reports of their adventures. She's not much of a writer, but she knows how to tough out a 100 miler and win some of them, too.

The Umstead home page, http://www.umstead100.org/

has a link to a great article about "how to train for and run your first 100" (Word download). I think the info is also good for any other ultra distance newbie. My take away is that I am definitely still a newbie and haven't figured out pain management. I also haven't done 40 mile training runs; so no 100 for me yet.

I am of course NEVER going to run Badwater. but the web page has lots of interesting articles. Some inspiration.

http://www.badwater.com/training/index.html

My inspiration for the day (thought up myself): just because I'm not entered in Badwater doesn't mean I can't become a Badwater athlete. So, I will eat/train/think like "I CAN", period.

I know of someone looking for more crew members for this year's race, if you are interested. ;)

Yeah, Grey is very active on country roads in winter. Haven't checked the summer archives.

Found a smattering of true trail events local to me in 2014, but the 'pavement pounders' are still the main draw.

Here's a doping story from overseas -

in French, but the two year suspension is plain to see! The website is chock full of trail stuff!

I met this lady at an ultra. She walks unbelievable fast:

She is probably 66 or 67 now and a prolific racer.

For some reason, this race report made me cry:
http://www.atrailrunnersblog.com/2015/0 ... 7s+Blog%29

Maybe because I know I'll never do that race; but also because I know that trail and what its like to trip on it.

i find that facebook is a real great resource unto itself. I follow all of my favorite runners, sage canaday, lisa tamati, scott jurek, rob krar, sam gash etc. They all provide great race coverage as well as training video's, it's so wonderful as everyday my page is essentially a who's who of the sports greatest athletes!
