Some are mandatory though (when I went to Canandaigua it was) -- I can't tell from the website whether it is for SS or not -- and sometimes it is for some racers (i.e. 100 milers), and not others.... ??

well, the meeting is before the dinner anyway. Not mandatory for 50. and um ja, 100 miles needs direction...

Anyway, I'd rather have a quieter if late lunch with La where I could actually talk to her.

The pre-race dinner is mandatory (and free) for the 100milers. Could you skip it, yeah, but it was pretty yummy and if you are camping you might as well go, cause you got to eat :)

If you read Page 14 of the Participants Guide, its mandatory for the 100's.

I will probabably be in for the 100 but will wait to sign-up until just before the price increases.

I just changed my reservation from the Best Western to the HI Express. I like HI Express and it was $50 cheaper per night.

I was hoping to keep my streak and get my 5th Sulphur buckle, but it ain't happening this year. :( I'm away in May for a couple of weeks and then 2 weeks after Sulphur I'm signed up for Laurel Highlands 70 miler (my third time there).

I will still come out and pace someone overnight. I'm dog slow these days...

I decided to go in a double marathon in Dallas this weekend. I will get to join people that live closer to me and continue to build more regular friendships with these people. Also, despite eating my enrty fee, i'll save about $600 in hotels/cars/parking.

Spirit , a double 26.2 sounds like some perfect LSD to make for an easy 50 miler in a couple of Months. You sure have some great options in the "Deep South". Have fun and enjoy the moment.

Sincerely , West Grey "Deep Freeze" ... yup my trails are still under 2 feet of Snow!

Overall, a wise decision. Although, I will miss seeing you. Perhaps in the Pelican races, next March!! :)

Finally signed up for the 25K. Curly was making noises about upgrading from the 50M to 100M, in which case I would pace her for 40 - 80K...

I wish I'd known Curly was pondering the 100, I want to do 50m but it's sold out so I just signed up for 100 yesterday! Current training plan is to drop after 80 or 100k, unless I get carried away. My groin problems may be the deciding factor anyway, barely made it through PYP last weekend...
