Yeah but he called it quits at 100K. AT problems that could have caused real damage......bummer. Smart move to pull out and live to fight another day, another race.

Thanks guys. As good a day as it was it was very tough, Paced well, BUT the heat took it's toll, along with an Achilles that was giving me some major pains. Thinking of run/walking 60km more seemed foolish. No regrets dropping, or shall we say completing a 100km race in 12:28. As many things went wrong with the day as went right. Still was my 2nd longest run/race and from every race we learn, learn, learn.

Congratulations on a fast 100k...I've only ever driven that far, driving it was pretty easy :D

The AT has been a bother since we first met, a good idea to run the 100k and not push and ruin your summer by hurting it badly.

If the weather was anything like here it was nasty, it was tough just standing in the yard, running would have been insane. Safe travels home.

I have no doubt that was a tough decision to make, but definitely a smart one! Safe travels back, and hope you get the AT sorted out quickly!!

100km, while not your goal, is still a pretty awesome achievement! I hope you can get the achilles issues figured out...

Good effort Strider. As mentioned above, pushing through for 60K more is possibly not as smart as running / racing for the rest of the summer. Safe trip back.

okay so it is weird at the moment is that achilles feels great !?!?!?! alright it could be cause everything else hurts more. I know how to get through the AT just need to do it, It is a simple, very simple, regiment of strength, stretch and rest. Hello month of June, here we come.

100km is still an insanely long run. Congtats on that and on having the strength to make a call for the long term. Good luck with your recovery!

D@mn fast time for a 100k. Sorry you had to drop there, but it was smart.
I've been eying Kettle Moraine 100 for a year now... would love to hear about the course and how you liked the 100k you covered.
Hope your recovery is going well... I know the feeling. :(
Enjoy the rest of the summer.
