Winter Running Socks

Which ones do you like? What must one look for when they buy winter running socks?

I don't have special socks for winter running...

I do have some smartwool socks from MEC that are a little thicker and warmer, so I will sometimes wear those on the very snowy days (cold doesn't seem to matter much since your feet stay warm from moving... but snow in your shoes can be very cold!).

I bought a really fluffy pair of Nike at RR last year. They kept my feet nice and toasty warm, even in my meshy Asics. But since I don't really intend on running outside this winter at all they will just be left languishing in my dresser. Poor running socks don't get to spend their lives doing what they were meant too

I have a couple of pairs of the Wright Double Layer - Cold weather socks...

I find them warm enough for me. If it's really, really cold, I wear a pair of ski socks (they have a bit of wool in them) I have a couple of pair of Head socks that are extra yummy warm! :D

I use my ski socks. They are thin enough to fit in my shoes, long enough to look after any inadvertant ankle gaps and they keep my feet comfortable.

I also have some wright double layer socks that are a bit longer.

Summer socks are white(ish), winter socks are black. Just the way it has worked out.

I wear the same type of Asics socks all year round. My feet never seem to get cold in the winter, so I don't bother with heavier weight socks.

Tip- there are smartwool socks on sale at Bushtukah in Ottawa- they are irregular but they are also $12.. They have SmartWool shirts on for 1/2 price too.
