Garmin Training Center Issues

Postby Lx2run » Sat Feb 13, 2010 11:26 am

It appears that my Garmin Training Center won't save my 2010 data. It will download the data from my 205 and I can work with it but if I close and re-open it the data is gone. I have tried to up-date but it doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Have you downloaded the latest version of Garmin Training Centre (available free on Garmin's website)?
The old version still worked when I got my 305 back in 2008, but there were a few issues with it. I have had no issues since I downloaded the newest version.

Gourou also had issues with GTC losing his data, but downloading the newest version fixed that.

I had the same problem when I got my new PC with Vista. There are some security and adminsistrator issues with Vista and Garmin so the fix, if that is your problem is to run Training Center as Administrator.

Process: set up a shortcut on your desktop, then to launch it, rigth click the mouse and run as adminsitrator is part of the pop up menu.
To do it in this process you need to launch training center BEFORE you connect your watch to the cradle, otherwise connecting will launch the program.

Maybe Garmin has this all fixed now, but this is the way I've been doing it for more than a year because they didn't have a workaround for Vista.

Hate Vista for this and a whole lot of other reasons

GTC works great with Windows 7, thankfully.

One suggestion I have is to try switching to using GarminConnect? It's web-based (you have to download the "plug-in") but it might work better. In many ways it's a better program than GTC.

Big thanks to Mid_Packer

I did what you suggested and the data is saving now. It must have been a Windows update because things were great until just after Christmas. Thanks again.

Grrrr to Vista. My son runs Windows 7 and loves it
