Vibram Five Fingers coming to Sports4

Postby Can37 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 2:42 pm

I happened to be in Sports4 on Bank Street today wearing my KSOs (After my 4th run, 10K felt great BTW), The manager asked me about my shoes. He said that they are scheduled to get some VFFs in April. apparently they are getting lots of requests. I put in a plug for FeelMax Osmas as well. Hopefully they will have more selection than MEC.
2010 plan:
Ottawa Hypothemic Half(22K!) 1:58
Ottawa St Paddy's 10K: 48:50.1
ATB - 2:42:25 - First 30K
NCM Marathon - 3:59:14 - first full
Canada Day 10K @ Kanata: 45:30.6 - PB!
A Midsummer Night's Run 15K
Army Run
Philly Full

Expecting to receive first shipment on / after April 1st ... No April Fools Joke ... :P

Also, expected to get a supportive version for over-pronators, apparently ...

Now, that was a joke ... :shifty:

And, for you discount hunters ... if you are a member of GoodLife, bring in and show your card for a 10% discount ... and/or printout a $10.00 coupon off there website http://sports4.com/ under promotions

Wingfoot has a pair.

I spoke with VFF about the design and if they had anything similar in the works. They said they dropped it because they weren't entirely pleased with it and recommended the Flow for winter running with injinjis.

I loved them for winter running. I know Spaff keeps telling me to use injinjis with my FF's but I barely get my toes in as it is and with toe socks too, not sure, and those injinjis are pricey :)

Anyhow ran in -20 with the Surges this winter and they were fine. Actually I did find it warmer running snow in than those late fall mornings when there was frost on the grass. That cold dampness sucked.

The more I read about these 'things" on different sites, the more people are agreeing, in their own words "they are f**ly

Now I don't know why these people will think that, but from what am reading, they don't have nice things to say when they see someone wearing one

There was a 'failure to communicate' .... The shipment apparently left the Distributor in the US on April 1st, and should be arriving in Ottawa bythe 21st of April, rather than arriving on April 1st ... :? :?

Couldn't resist and had to go downtown this afternoon, as then Centrum location did not have them in stock ... :( Good thing I did, as they only had limited sizing in stock, and would not likely be receiving another shipment till December, if at all ... So, I ended up getting the black/grey cameo KSO ... :shifty:  Will likely bring it to my cruise and wear them as a recovery-type occasion ...

Oh yeah, the Sprints are $89.95 and KSO are $99.95 ...

Excellent Andy, but not really a "recovery" footwear. Now I know the CDN price I'll be checking them out again in Boston. Have a great cruise. And you can always get them at the Running Goat in Perth.

The vibram website has them listed at $84.95, but even there stock is limited in sizing ...

I'll check out prices in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, if there is a outlet nearby the hotel ...

Wore them this evening, and actually felt quite comfy in them ... sure lot better than just in barefeet walking around ... Though, have to pay attention to where I am walking, as I almost stubbed my toes a few times :? :?

Sports4 has a $10 coupon on there website http://www.sports4.ca/?page_id=23 EDIT: I asked this morning - they will not let you use the coupon on VFFs :( They are flying out the door, they sold 2 pairs while I was there.

They ordered 60 pairs, one in each colour and size and model, so they are going to missing sizes 40-41-42 quickly.

MEC is cheaper - $85 for KSOs, but stock is low and they don't stock smaller mens sizes

I don't know how Running Goat is doing for stock these days, anyone have an update?

Because of the Hot Demand and Low Supply Sports4 will not be offering any discounts (neirther the $10.00 coupon nor GoodLife 10%) on these Vibrams ... Trust Me, I asked ...    They know that they will sell and apparently, they will not even give Employee Discounts to their own staff ..

I don't live in the area, so have never bought anything there before, but I do think that is a bit of a sleezy policy if they don't honour the discount coupon. Or EPP if that's the case too. I mean your staff are your best forms of advertising. I realize there is short supply and big demand, but I did hear directly from VFF that they will be re-stocked on May 1 (unless that has changed).

Reminds me of the time during the ice storm when a local hardware store in Kingston took advantage of loyal customers by marking up the price of batteries to cash in on everyone elses misfortune and need during the power outage.
