Yes, they are pretty long, even on me. No riding up at all.

Holly, I guess I read the thread wrong. I thought you were looking for running shorts and not boxing shorts. My bad!

Probably too late to mention: shorts cause chafing between my thighs on really long runs. Thats why I wear thigh stuff and stuff 8" inseam or longer.

that's why I was looking for a longer short than the ones I had. ;)

These ones seem great, but I've only run 5 miles in them. Will take them longer tomorrow. They are super light and comfy, and the material doesn't bunch up or crawl up between the thighs, which is exactly what I was hoping. They will be awesome for summer running! And I'm happy to say that my BB Pearl fits in the zip pocket (my old shorts didn't have a pocket at all).

The waistband sits on the hips, not on the waist. It's also quite relaxed... it's just snug enough to hold them in place, but they don't feel tight or constricting in any way. I approve. :)

I think you made a great choice! I bought these shorts in the purple plaid last week.

I'd love to find the perfect shorts that solve my problems of chafing, riding up and adequate ventilation. So far, everything has been 2 out of 3 at best, with the winner being the Skirtsports GymGirl skirt, but it would be nice to have a pair of shorts that work.

Are there any pics out there of the above lulu shorts on a normal woman, not a skinny model? Holly, please report on how they perform on a long run! They look like they might crawl up the thighs on me. If I bought them to try I couldn't return them afterward, and I've wasted a lot of money trying different bottoms.

Wait a second, now I'm confused.

"Long" is an adjective in your post title. Does it modify "distance" or "shorts". Are these shorts for running long distance, or long shorts for running distance?

I meant for long distances. But I also wanted a longer short! If any of the longer ones would have fit me I would have gone with that but I am hoping this will do.

Holly, make sure you try these out on a longer run before you commit to the race in them.

I have the pants - and while I loved them in the change room, once I had them shortened (the pants were about 8-10 inches too long for me.. ) and started wearing them, that waist band rolled down, and the pants bunch up in the front.

They are OK for work and hiking, but I can't fathom running in them.

Hope they work for you. If IC like's m then they must work for some people. Just not me :(

I am going to go buy a pair of these tonight. They are getting rave reviews by the runners at my office!

I thought there was a rule of thumb: if it is cute (like that picture Turd put up), then it is impractical. I bet these shorts are annoying in some way.

I think the waistband must be too tight. That woman looks like the bloodflow to her face isn't very good.

I don't know where you got that rule, but it's nonsense.

all of my lulu gear is not only extremely comfortable but it also looks great. Every piece. I will most likely be dressed head to toe in lulu for my race (ok not the socks... the socks will be defeet). I ran my first 50k in a lulu skirt (my first marathon too, for that matter) and ran my other 50ks in lulu crops and top.

I must be psychic
I predicted this reaction from Holly to your comment   8)

But..back to Holly...I too love LuLu gear ( and trust me...I was a reluctant convert   ). I thought I'd find that "wide" waist band annoying...but "au contraire"...very comfy.

Spirit and I agree - there's nothing like the practical fashion sense of an engineer
