Any point in buying metatarsal inserts?

Postby LyndaJ » Fri Apr 11, 2014 6:22 pm

I bought a new pair of Asics GT2000 today. Took them out for a very short run tonight and I experienced pain in my left metatarsals which got worse as I continued to run.

Wondering if anybody else has experienced same and whether it is worth buying the cushioned inserts or not?

Thanks,

Lynda

Is this new pain that you've never had? It sounds like the shoes just don't fit you right.

Or you could try a different lacing technique or slightly looser lacing to take the pressure off the top of your foot.

It also happened in a previous GT2000 model. I really should have known better.

I have the GT2000 and had the same issue. Loosening the laces worked for me. I only had enough lace to tie a double-knot.

Alternate lacing techniques for foot pain:

Back when I had some tendinitis in the top of my foot, I used to do a version of the one at the bottom, but left a gap closer to the toes.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a try. I didn't have this problem until I lost weight.

Here's the one I use. I've shown it to many people with either wide feet or a high instep and most like it. It's also a good one to use if your shoes have short laces, because you wind up with more lace to tie your knot.

Straight Bar Lacing
