I don't think I've ever posted here.....

Postby Irongirl » Wed Jan 27, 2010 10:19 am

....I think I have to admit that I'm injured.

My hip just isn't getting better with my "chiro here and there while continuing to run" plan.

I'm taking a full week off from running - starting today.

I am going to still try to spin (I HATE the trainer!)....and do yoga, and stretching, and icing, and I'll add some extra walking into my routine. oh, and foam roller.

I need to treat this injury like I treat treaining. I'm really not good at doing things at home for injuries....but, I think I need to do something if I want this to get better. :(
i run for me.

I think you're making the right decision. I looked at how irun log last night...and I did wonder how you were going to manage an 18km run with me on Saturday :?

You can do this. I had a hip injury last spring ignored it and race the whole season and then spent the fall off running which was awful I should have addressed it right away then I wouldn't have wasted the fall. I have been spending extra time on my core and now my hip is getting alot better. Good luck.

Sounds like a wise move IG. Sometimes the best thing we can do is take a break and let our body heal. Good luck!

Just wanted to chime in to say that I have felt your pain. Rest and physical therapy were the only things that cured it, unfortunately, and it probably would have taken a lot less of each had I listened to my body when it first started aching early last year. The end result was four consecutive months off running, and 2 of those were off all forms of exercise, including walking (except for work and essential errands). So listen to your body!!! (And feel better soon!)

Liar. You have posted here before.

My only thought about your injury is questioning whether rest is enough, or if you need to do more investigating. Or if you think this might be a post-pregnancy thing as your pelvis/hips have been through so much lately.

well, that wasn't because I had an injury! :P

I have chronic knee problems, but, never enough for me to consider myself "injured"

I'm going to take the "active rest" approach to start - foam roller, icing, spinning, massage...for a week - see how that goes.
i run for me.
