Are you noticing any improvements, or is it too early to tell?

They jury is still out. I'll be more willing to say something outloud after a couple more treatments.

I had ART on my calf/foot/ankle last night.....my chiro dug in there pretty deep, but it wasn't that painful. I would say, for me, the quad/glute ART was the most painful....so I guess it depends on the area being worked and your individual body too. YMMV.

Of course, you're one tough cookie. Seriously though, I always let them know that I can handle the pain and to not hold back, I would tell them when it was too much. Usually, more pain, faster results. Hope it works for you

Four treatments in....and my response is 'meh'. I can't say this is really doing anything at all.

There have been moments of relief but there is no indication that this is because of the ART or the fact that I haven't run in over two months. I mean really, the not running part is likely part of the reason the pain is less at times, along with other things I have changed including the move to all flat shoes (no heels for this girl right now) and also a ton of stretching, plus a general move towards limited time on my feet.

I'm giving it one more appointment and moving on. I tried!

Active Release Therapy

Postby Jwolf » Mon Dec 13, 2010 4:59 pm

It sounds like your foot problem is very similar to mine, and that didn't respond to ART either. The key for me was finding supportive footwear, both inside and outside, that I could wear while walking around- just so the darn thing could heal. Not running was frustrating enough, but when just walking hurt it I realized it wasn't something simply not running would solve. I also had to quit my job at the time. :(

:( I'm so sorry, Karen. I had so hoped it would work for you.

I wear shoes in the house now to keep the foot happier.

I'm going to keep going on the regiment of rest, yoga, biking, etc. and hope that someday this heals up. I have an MRI scheduled for the end of January but not really expecting it to show anything. Really, my goal at this point is to not have pain when I walk...I'm pretty much past the point of thinking about running again. Maybe someday...

I think we all hope that each new treatment will be 'the one'. Wishes and dreams....
