IMC 2010?

Postby ultraslacker » Thu May 13, 2010 9:12 am

who's going this year?

(I know I asked this last year with the idea of coming out for it, and then I didn't go... we'll try again this year. ;)

And wine... don't forget that little wine plan we discussed!

I normally go every year..but whether or not I go will depend on when we are leaving for my sister's wedding. I may end up in Penticton earlier in the summer. I'll know closer to the time :)

I was thinking of trying to volunteer. When do you have to sign up to do that?

It will partly depend on our vacation schedule, though.

I don't want to sign up to volunteer since I don't want to commit this early (maybe closer to the date) but I have a friend from here who is doing the race so I thought I might go out and cheer, visit my grandparents, and see whoever else is going to be there. :)

There is a very small chance I'll go out there this year. Whether I do or don't get out there, I'm definitely going to [try to] register for 2011. There, I said it. 8)

Ooooh... fun, Seuss! Did you already reserve a campsite? I guess the BC Parks ones will take reservations at the end of this month.

Something to think about...

yes - we will be at Wright's Beach Campground - it's private, not provincial.

Heather just booked the camp site and we're bringing Bostie now and no bikes. It'll be a run/swim team duster training camp. You're welcome to join us, even on short notice. We are going up Friday afternoon, returning Monday afternoon. There will be wine.

Good to know that volunteer registration just opened, Suess, since I signed up yesterday and chose the "popular" slots maybe I'll actually get one. I'm also volunteering at IM Cozumel this winter.

I'm know I'm registering for IMC 2011, but I still can't decide if my goal time should be 10:43:16.3 or 11:00:16.3.

I'm looking for someone to share a ride to IMC with. Similar to what gjennifer and I did in 2006 drive all night Friday and come home on MOnday. I don't think my van will make the trip so I'm wondering if anyone from Edmonton area is going, looking to rideshare, please pm me. Thx :)

I believe triprincess was thinking about going.

I've decided not to sign up for the a Ironman next year. Instead I'll continue working on my bike fitness and Heather and I both plan to try and qualify for Clearwater and race there in 2011. Of course this is all plan B, and assumes plan A doesn't come to fruition... plan A is Heather gets a Kona Slot at IM Cozumel and I get to tag along as Sherpa. I am really starting to enjoy the training for half Ironman, moreso than the highvolume/low intensity training for full Ironman or marathon running.
