Thanks for the detailed race report! (I know I want to do this one....)

Yep, a huge part of racing is smart pacing and you did it, Jennifer! Congrats on the top 10% placing. Woo hoo! Great start to the season! :D

Thanks everyone. I feel great today physically, and I'm really happy about how things turned out yesterday. I know my strengths and weaknesses and I know what I need to do to improve my training. Even though the time wasn't a PB, I feel better after this race than I have in a long time.

Part of the time when I was out on the course, I was thinking of each of the other four races I've done on that course since 2004 (three other halfs and one full). Each one was unique, and I've learned something from each one, and moved forward. I've improved so much as a runner since that first half, and I know I still have some years of improvement left in me-- I'm looking forward to seeing what this body is capable of (after a decent recovery, of course!).

Thanks again.

Congratulations on sticking to your plan, running a strong race, and finishing in the top 10% of your age group - great achievement. Combined with your recent 5 K medal race you're in great shape at the start of the racing season. Hope it all continues to go so well. And maybe see you on the marathon course in 2010?

Ha, I can't even decide for sure what I'm doing this fall, never mind in two years from now. :)

But I love this race so much that chances are good I'll participate in some way every year as long as I'm in Vancouver. Now with the 8K and the marathon relay, in addition to the marathon and half-marathon races, there really is something for everyone.

Congrats on another great race. Top 10% pacing - that's awesome!!! Congrats, Jen.

All this considered, I decided I would just run the best race I could and not have a clear time goal set. A strange calm came over me on Saturday when I realized I just wanted to enjoy the race, run a strong race, and I was happy to see what the race would bring me no matter what that was.

Jenn, it sounds like you are satisfied with your run and you ran to your potential last week for that day. It also seems you know exactly what you have to do next year for this race if you want a faster result.
That hill is daunting to say the least. Its even tough for me to imagine what it would be like to take on that hill during the race.
Great job and great attitude.
