Hello all.

I joined 1599 of my closest friends at Ontario Place for a nice 10K run along the lakefront.

I wasn't sure how I would do in the lovely sunny, but warm conditions. Plus I forgot my Garmin, so I was going by perceived effort!

Fortunately, much of the route was shaded and getting a breeze of the lake. A bit of it was uphill though, making it a bit tougher than the Sporting Life 10K I did a couple of months ago.

In the end, I hung in there

Gun time 55.37, chip time 54.37, so no PB today, but I did finish 41 out of 206 in my AG, so I'm definitely not picking up the rear any more.

Just coming over the news as I type - Apparantly someone collapsed at finish line, and arrived at hospital vitals absent. So sad. Need to wait on this for more details

Not good news - hope it wasn't the 75-year-old man I passed around 4k in. He looked strong though...

Good race for me as well - knocked 5 minutes off my Sporting Life time and broke 50 minutes for the first time. I was super pleased.

Great race, great energy in the runners and the crowd. The course was nice as well. I'll be back next year, for sure.

FYI, it sounds like a runner in his 30's fainted at the line and struck his head on a barricade. Let's hope things turn out okay.

Can't post the link as I'm too new to the forums, but have a look at CityNews dot ca for the story.

Why practice running slow? It comes naturally!
