Kieblers HBC Run For Canada

Postby kiebler » Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:20 pm

What a great race today :!: I started off at a nice easy pace, warming everything up until about 3K into the race at which time I picked up my pace and settled on a comfortable one, one that I thought I could endure for the remaining distance. I kept the pace up for the duration, but I had very little energy left when I came around the corner and spotted the finish line. I could not give that extra spurt of energy that I like to do at the end, but I kept my pace crossing the finish line in under an hour, chip time.
My gun time recorded: 1hr 7secs; my chip time recorded 59 mins 28 secs :o :D
My training is paying off, each race is getting a little better. My goal now is to focus for the Royal Victoria Half Marathon, not so much on time but more on endurance. I am extremely happy to have broken that 1 hour barrier, not by much, but never the less :)

Congratulations on beating the one-hour barrier! Seems like you ran a very smart race. There's plenty of time between now and October to build up for the half.

Excellent job on breaking an hour. If you had nothing left at the end, you ran a great race and left everything on the course. Good job.
2009 Highlights
Marathon - 2:54:05 (Mar 22 - Tokyo)
Half - 1:20:00 (Apr 26 - Hartwell)
5k - 17:09 (Acura 5k - Jul 19)
800m - 2:16.80 (York U - Jul 28 )

My training log

Why practice running slow? It comes naturally!

"There are two types of injuries that we older runners get: those that we can run with and those that we can't. And if you're over 30 and don't have one or the other, you aren't training hard enough." - Younger Legs blog
