This report will be quick and dirty...
First off, I think this course is a bit short. I can guarantee it is somewhere between 4.62 and 5.0 km. I say this because my distance at the finish stated 4.62 km, but my GPS konked for about 30-45 seconds around the middle, which put my km pacing summary all out of whack.
The race...well, what made this race really cool for me was that it turned out to be a completely unplanned high school reunion, as I saw 3 high school friends there. Tres cool! The race itself started late as the police were late in blocking off the roads, but that was good in my books, because it allowed the rain to start before the race.
This is a fast course, with little to no hills, and lots of winding and turning. No stretch looks long. Mentally, this is a good thing. I went out too fast, as usual, but was able to maintain roughly that pace for the whole race. I just wish the mid-portion pacing was accurate on my watch, as you'll see by my pacing below.
1 km pace 3:51
2 km pace 3:53
3 km pace 4:38 (watch lost signal)
4 km pace 4:13 (signal picked up again sometime on this km)
5 km pace 3:59
Overall, another 10th overall, second week in a row, with a time of 19:04. I'd love to call this a PB, but because I have doubts of the length, I'll just call it a good effort.

No need to now...I queried the race director via email and he sent me a link to the yahoo photo map they used to measure it (had never seen this before). He also swore it was Garmin-ed.
Course measured 3.13 miles which works out to 5.036 km.
Having said that, I still believe its a short course...LOL!!
Only because I don't think I hurt enough to run a 19:04.

Roughly 150 on hand, and I didn't stick around for the draw prizes...I had to get back to Kingston.
And sadly....I just got another email from the race director. We missed a little loop, causing the course to be short a hair over 200 metres I knew it!!
So the 19:04 (4.8 k) is now a course-corrected 19:52 for 5 k given the final km pacing (48 sec for additional 200 metres)
Still happy, second best race time, still sub-20.

Nicely done!
Slight highjack...Rick...do you know Pat McDermot (speedster who runs with Steve Boyd)
He thinks The Wolfe is a bit long...I didn't ask him if that was both the 5 and 10km course. Seeing as he generally races 5km he might be talking about the 5km.

Nice job - at least you could think you had a PB for a little while. Mis-measured courses are no fun though - although better short than long.

Nice run, considering the crazy heat/humidity you had to contend with ... and, glad that the RD had taken the responisbility and accountability to let the participants know of the course error, which other's may have just shrugged off ...

Not that it matters, but I think it was .4 off. Most of the runners missed a right turn in the final K. (volunteer was there but not directing turn) Did the Gmap trick and it appears to give .4 as did several of the Garminazis at the race. You might want to double your add-on.
I really liked the race (finished in 18.02 plus add-on) and there was excellent cake (three flavours) and Bridgehead coffee. Kids 1 k race. Very community. Never did find out who won the Death Package.
Glad you had a good race and it is great to catch up with old friends.
