Niagara Marathon - Fizz
Niagara Marathon - Fizz
I'll keep this short since there's not much to say.
Today I ran the race I hoped I wouldn't have in Waterloo. Ran the first half pretty well. But I didn't deliver the goods in the second half. I won't make any excuses, and the impact of factors beyond my control could have been lessend (sp?) with better planning. Valuable lessons were acquired, now it's time to move on. Highlights : Crossing the Peace Bridge was kinda cool, and with 100m to go, I stopped for 30-40 seconds to talk to my wife and son.
Chip time was 3:23:07. Not bad but I expect more of myself.
Now where did I leave that Stella?

Definitely not bad! I'd love to know what you think you could improve on for next time. After that Stella. Congrats Fizz!

Al: Because of the factors were out of your control, it played a part in the second half of the race. I have to disagree that YOU didn't deliver the goods. You are being too hard on yourself. I know you had alot of things against you on this one- stressful week at work, not good sleep and most importantly, you had to stretch out your training after peaking probably a month or more ago for the race you were supposed to run. That makes running a marathon both physically and mentally very tough.
Hey, we both had to have a bad one before Boston. We are going to KICK ASS TOGETHER on that one!

It may not have been your best time, but it is still impressive on it's own. Congratulations!

Marathon day is never predictable since so much goes into getting you to the start line in prime form mentally & physically. As others have said...3:23 is a pretty good time for a tough day at the office. Smile, have another Stella (or two) and move on. I just wish I could run another marathon......

Would definitely like to hear what some of those lessons are!
Congrats on a solid performance.
ETA: I was thinking about you on Saturday as I was in a candy store and they had those "FIZZ" candies - you know, the ones that are hard candy on the outside and then have this powder that goes fizzy on the inside.
