Wow, those are some sick splits. Very even! Nice work. It was great to see you yesterday- you looked so strong coming in.

Just wondering... did you add more mileage in your other runs to make up for the shorter long runs? How did 4:30 pace feel on your long runs- was it a steady effort, or pretty easy? Just wondering as your two hour fast-ish long run is something I've been considering too (not 4:30 though lol).

Nice run, probably corral 1 in Boston, and an open NYCQ. Gonna get back on the horse and hammer 2h50 in the Fall?

Thanks everyone, it was fun. And I can surely go faster, no doubt.

Not likely this fall, one is enough for this year.

Yes very satisfied

My weekly average was about 80-85km and I peaked with a couple weeks about 100km, I did add a bit more mileage in some of the other runs but not much, all the other runs remained about the same, it was really only about 5-7km a week that I was leaving off. It doesn't take much to absorb that in the weekday runs. The faster pace was more then just easy, closer to steady effort, however near the end of training it was feeling easy so I could tell it was working. It does make the other week workouts harder because you will be tired so mentally you need to be prepared for that. I felt it worked out well and I enjoyed the faster training paces.

Nice run, sir. You looked very relaxed at 11K. Would have liked to see you finish but I had other "duties" over at the 32K mark. Interesting training with the 27K max runs...it's more about the weekly mileage than the individual runs.

I'm actually kinda sad to read this. please don't let this go to your head  , but checking your marathon results is knda like watching Usain Bolt run. You know he's fast, but you still watch, hoping to see what other historic, SICK feat he can pull off. Same deal with you.

Great race Rob. Despite all the S%&T-chucking I've done (and will continue to do), you tore it up.

PS:Ya gotta admit....I was pretty close on my prediction for you (33 seconds off). 8)

I found your training plan really interesting also. I would have never believed that you could pull it off with that short of a long run but I do understand that different things work for different people and the fact that you still put in some really good weekly mileage. Good for you for trying something different! I thing you did an amazing job out there on the course and it shows with your great results, congrats!

Congrats on an awesome race, RobbieT. I find it VERY inspiring that you are hitting PBs after 13 marathons - and crazy fast PBs. Way to go!!!
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

I enjoyed reading about how your training and racing strategy came together in the end.
