Congrats on a successfull first marathon! Great report. The push up guy you speak of reminds me of a really loud guy in the Vancouver marathon where he would run ahead (of the 3:40 group) and then run back against the flow. Then he would run past the group again and a few minutes later, he's back again running against the flow. He made loud chatter with the bunny but not sure if they knew each other. He repeated this antic until about the 17k mark where he was last seen on the ground yelling in pain with leg cramps. That was the last we saw of him.

WOW...what an amazing report for a fantastic well run race.
I love your mantra...Trust and Believe.

And I chuckled at your line..."sniff the finish line"....are you part hound dog...that's something my dog C-Moss does when she's out running trails...she's on the hunt...(mind you at almost 10 she is slowing down and her PB's are behind her...yours lie ahead :D :D )

I wish you could have come to the M&G...next time :D :D

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

Ok, I'm a little teary-eyed reading this Mark.
Your report is wonderful and I thank you for taking the time to share your MARATHON with us.
I could feel each km that you ran and it brought back wonderful memories for me- thank you.

You did it. Mission accomplished. I am so freaking happy for you.
You get this result with your first- imagine what you've got ahead of you (and yes that means you have to tell your wife that you'll be going through all this training again).

I'm sure your family is very proud of you. ENJOY this feeling of accomplishment, rest and recover well.

CONGRATULATIONS MARATHONER

I saw the pushup guy on Preston St around the first water station. I wondered how long it would last.

The sign that gave me the biggest laugh was the one a couple of km in that said "You are NOT almost there"

FANTASTIC 1st marathon, I can't imagine a better experience. Very impressive time, I'm sure there is alot more to come. I'm even more impressed with your performance not having run over 30k in training. With some increased mileage, there are some big numbers in your future.

Loved the report, brought back many memories

Thanks McShame! I actually (re)read your Ottawa Marathon report (along with R4L's Victoria report and Mrs Strider's New York report) the night before the race for inspiration. These were the reports that got me excited about marathon running in the first place. Thanks for inspiring me!
