2:09 and satisfied with it.
Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been around all that much. Things kind of fell apart with some health issues getting in the way. This has been a successful year in getting back into running. I got back on track and was even accepted to the NYC marathon. Many things to be thankful for on a Thanksgiving race.
So a 2:09 finish isn't great in comparison to recent halfs, but this was my best half marathon in the past three years. I felt strong the entire way through and didn't struggle through any sections. I knew the course well and ran a smart race. Oh yah one more thing: I ran 12 and 1's but don't have any explanation why.
Conditions for the day were great with a bit of sun and cloud. A little colder (maybe 5 degrees) and things would have been perfect. Bumped into friends before and had quick chats to calm our nerves down. Bumped into one of my marathon training buddies around the 4km mark and we ran together till the 19k mark. Bumped into Half-Mary and congratulated her on demolishing her previous PB. THEN drove to the ferry for Turkey at my parents'. Great weekend, imo.
Next stop: NYC!
