Amazing. Simply freaking amazing. But not too shocking - Kim and you have such a great support system for each other. You did all the prep you could possibly do and you had a plan in place. You raced the plan and even though it appeared that everything 'ticked' along without issue, you were prepared for it! No excuses. I love it.
Well done sir! Loved it - and still. Ironman might be crazy, but it's nothing like that!!
Congratulations again!

Re: Sulphur Spring 100 Race Report (my 1st 100)
Dude when you showed up after 6 laps (120k) I fully expected to see a walking, sizzled up, dried up, mumbling zombie, what I found was a guy that looked liked he had just started, smiling and speaking full comprehensive sentences. If I had not known better I say you skipped some laps. I couldn't wait to get started running with you, I was so excited I was trying to contain myself. I didn't want to freak you out by going too fast or being too excited.
What an awesome night, the time just flew by. You were excellent man, I'll never forget that night. Thanks for letting me be a part of it.
I'm not sure I'll ever run that far, but if I do I'll call on you, you made it look as easy as 100 miles can.
btw of course I wanted to pass that guy, that's what I do, but I knew you had a plan that worked for 170km and you would pass him when the plan said to.
This running game is fun fun fun, it makes me happy happy happy I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. Thanks again.

Robbie,
I meant to mention this before, but great job on the pacing aspect. Sounds like you were perfect out there. I know how important a good pacer is from when Strider paced me at Haliburton. It's always a fine line between pushing too hard and not hard enough...especially after the 'pacee' has already run so far up to that point. I'm pretty sure that Strider would agree that he probably wouldn't have pushed quite as hard at that point and been able to run quite as fast if it hadn't been for you. Good job!
PS. Almost sounded like a bit of curiosity over the 100mile distance in your voice?

Agree 100%. Having someone out in front "pulling" you and helping you keep that rythme has an amazing affect. There are times that I know I would have like to have walked or slowed, but didn't because of having Robbie in front. He nailed it.

Re: Sulphur Spring 100 Race Report (my 1st 100)
Great job nailing your first 100 miler and not getting emotionally wrecked! With that discipline you can go anywhere, sir. Beautifully executed plan, excellent pacing throughout the whole race. Imagine how much time you'd shave off your finish time if you kept your aid station stops even shorter...
You looked strong and ran happy, which makes these events look easy, but we all know they are hard work.
Congratulations and enjoy the rest and the afterglow. Go get yourself a piece of rawhide for that shiny buckle...
