Seabrook Spirit - Double 13.1
The short of it: garmin measured 13.3x both days. I easy jogged at under 12 min miles for a 2:35 the first day and 2:37 the second day. Since I usually don't run long training runs, I'm happy with the speeds. Cardiovascular could go faster but left heel no.
The revelation: This was a lapped race with alot of two way, so you get to see others coming towards you. Its south Texas and it is hot and humid so people don't need to wear clothes. On the second day, about five miles in, I was watching some terrifically well formed bodies running towards me. I realized: You don't "have" to be perfect; but if you WANT to be, go for it. There is a difference between the choice to work on a well formed body and feeling like it is pushed on you psychologically. I choose to be the fit person I am. So, go work on those awesome abs if you want them.
I'm not giving up. And I'm not going to be discouraged by the society I live in. I'm not going to be discouraged by my age. I was running half marathons instead of laying in a hospital bed. I'm just going to keep going for it.
Friends new and old: Annabelle, Robert, Becky, Donna, Parvaneh, Adam, Erik, Chris, Brendan, Lisa, 3 people I played leap frog with for 2 days.
Today's shoes experiment was much better than yesterday's. So the shoes for next weekend's 50 mile race are picked. I think I didn't tear myself up too bad with this weekend's running so my left heel will be ok for a 50 mile walk.
THE BEST MEDALS EVER
We also got a cool sports bag (more like flight bag), t-shirt and socks. Lots of food if you like that sort of thing.
More pics added later. Maybe more reflections too.

Interesting event. The original medal pictures you posted last week showed a "left side" and "right side" version of the half rainbow for each of the individual races, whereas you now seem to have two "right sides".
