Hey, we had the same dinner tonight, except ours was Campbell's chicken noodle and Pillsbury crescent rolls, now maybe that's boring  But homemade chicken noodle and freshly baked bread sounds divine :)

I made clam chowder on Saturday night. Awesome meal for a wet and cold day.

Last night beef tenderloin roast. I think my DH is a meatatarian (sorry UM).

I bought the fixin's to make crab cakes but I know no one else in my family will eat them so I guess it will be boring old chicken legs tonight.

If you can be bothered I'd love your recipe for crab cakes. When we were in Florida this past August my 16 yr old daughter made it her missiion to taste crabcakes in almost all of the restaurants we went to. You'll never guess which place won for the best crabcakes......The Cheesecake Factory in Buffalo, NY. We ate there the night before our flight went out. Maybe Buffalo should be famous for more than just chicken wings

I am in a cooking rut lately, which I really must snap out of. I think all my training (trying to get runs in after work) just took over the time I would usually use to prepare a good dinner. Now that my training is over, at least for now, I have no excuses. Just hearing some of the yummy dinners in this thread is making me feel terribly guilty.

:shifty: :shifty: Um...I don't have a recipe. Was going to search for one. LONG story but I have leftover lobster and was going to mix crab and lobster together with "stuff" bread with panko and pan fry. Just haven't figured out what "stuff" I was going to add. :)

BBQ Filet Mignon, potatoes on the barbie, maybe, not sure yet, and likely broccoli and red peppers sauteed on the barbeque...

I'm making up for last night's dinner, tonight we had bbq'd salmon pinwheels, rosemary & garlic roasted potatoes and caesar salad.

I made this http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Barbeque-Chicken-2/Detail.aspx tonight and I served it with risotto, asparagus, and a salad. I have to say the chicken far exceeded my expectations. I modified it slightly. I added no water to the sauce... Why? it has no flavor. I added a couple of drops of liquid smoke and a bit of cayenne pepper. I only used 4 thighs because that is what I had. I threw everything into the dish, mixing the chicken with the sauce, covered it, baked it for 15 min at 500 and then turned it down to 350, because I needed to bake at the same time. It cooked in about an hour and was SUPER tender. I will make again. I'm not sure I can pull it off for a weeknight dinner.... maybe if I make lunch and do other stuff while the chicken cooks.... but to wait an hour for dinner seems a bit long. I often don't get home early enough to be able to make a dish like that but if you were someone who was actually home by 4:30, it is VERY do-able.

Sesame Chicken

This is a healthier version of sesame chicken, because the chicken is not breaded and fried.

chicken breats or tighs, cut in small cubes (boneless chicken thighs work great for this)
peppers, onions, boy choi or any other veggies you like in stir-frys

Sauce (double recipe - if you don't like a lot of sauce, then divide the quantities by two):

1/2 cups honey
1/4 cups soy sauce
1/4 cups sesame oil
1 cup chicken broth
2 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon fresh ginger
red pepper flakes

1. stir fry chicken in a mix of canola and sesame oil, until chicken is cooked
2. add vegetables
3. add sauce
4. thicken the sauce with corn starch if desired
5. serve over rice

Right now I have a turkey breast (bone in, skin on) on the BBQ. Hopefully, I'll be able to eat before 9PM.

Actually, it only took about 40 minutes and it is yummay!!! Preheated BBQ to 400F. Put the breast on skin side down over the middle burner, which I then turned down to low. Left the L/R burners on high and kept the lid closed. I have never before seen a bird so golden brown on the outside, yet juicy on the inside! It was a big hit, and I'll have leftovers to take to work this week. :D

I don't understand how you guys have all these meals....or the ongoing interest in making them. Not slamming anybody, just expressing my incomprehension. I try to do less every day.

Supper: broccli, spinach, pinapple, tofu and ff salad dressing....couple spoonfuls of peanut butter.....green tea.

Baked ham, scalloped potatoes, broccoli with pudding and raspberries for dessert. ;)

Sunday was bbqed steak, baked potato, fried mushrooms, corn on the cob and avocado salad. Oh and garlic bread.

Saturday was spaghetti and meat sauce.

This was my Sunday dinner, swap the broccoli for cauliflower, and ditch the pudding. Not that I don't like pudding, we just didn't have pudding!

I enjoy the process of cooking. I feel fulfilled when I cook; it's a creative outlet. And the end result isn't bad, either!

Actually, it was your post about bbq turkey that sparked my interest. I realized I'm just missing (as in don't have that synapse or gene or something) the interest or the creative fun that you feel.
