Best post-run meals...

Postby QuickChick » Sun Oct 09, 2011 12:58 pm

I have recently invented something that just might be the best thing ever. You might think you invented it too. That's OK. We can both feel the glow of inventive genius. ;) Last week, after my long run, there were 2 pieces of bacon in the fridge. There was an avocado and a tomato, mayo, and ancient grain bread. You know where I'm going with this... the BAT sandwich. The BAT might just be the perfect post-run food. It is so satisfying, it's like I feel the life force re-entering my body after a long workout. I just wanted to share this gem... and if you also invented it, give yourself a pat on the back too and share it with others. It's fan-freakin' tastic.

What other post long run meals do you have that just absolutely hit the spot?

my number one favourite is pizza... not very creative, but oh does it ever taste good after a long run! when I'm ultra training I keep a freezer full of pizza for after my long runs, lol.

I don't understand how you had cooked bacon in the fridge. That would never happen in my house. It barely makes it from the fry pan to the table without disappearing en-route.

I have to say I'm a bit hooked on McDonald's burgers and fries (and coke) for my post-run meals. I really missed it yesterday. I might be giving it up again soon though. #veganwannabe

kinda +1 - Harvey's Cheeseburger and a diet coke - my must have post run meal (only after a really long run though...)

Kettleman's bagel sandwich. A and I would go there after our long runs ... she always gave me her pickle spear. She's awesome like that :D

Ohhhhhh, I miss Kettlemen's bagel sandwiches... There's nothing like that in Edmonton, that I've found.

My other bad habit/post-run 'snack' is a cold beer. I know it's no good, but mmm, so tasty.

I've been stuffing ww pitas with spinach and other dark greens, peppers, jalopenos etc. BUT first i grill mushrooms, so they are hot inside the sandwich and melt the shredded cheese ( I am vegetarian but not vegan, I LOVE my dairy products!) a bit of red pepper hummus inside, SOOOOO GOOD!

Hehehehe, I like the use of the word "lashing" to go with Mayo. Sounds like you mean it. ;)
You should have a BAT this weekend!!! I plan to!! After my run of course. It'll motivate me to go at least 16K. A latte used to do that (there are a LOT of calories in a latte!) but the BAT is way more delicious than a latte.

MMMMMM I was eating that too, WITH pb! Then I started leaving the jars on the counter and was having toooooo many spoonfuls during the day and was literally going thru a jar of each every few days! 4lbs later, I've had to go cold turkey on my nutella habit!

I'm so glad that I'm allergic to hazelnuts, and don't have to worry about developing a Nutella habit. It sounds like an extremely addictive substance.
