guess I'll be pushing my BQ goals out a bit further!

Too bad for those people who qualified late this year and weren't able to register for 2010, who now don't meet the new standards for 2011.

Sheesh! I went from 3:15 to 3:20 to 3:10!

Now my eventual goal of a 3:15 Marathon won't cut it for another 5 years! Yikes.

hmmm.... i'm wondering how this would affect Lightning, who registered for 2010 and then deferred to 2011 (but isn't technically 'registered' for 2011 yet).

(probably the last thing on her mind right now, though )

 :? This happened to one of my running buddies. She qualifed in Hamilton last fall in the 50-54AG. She did not apply to go this year because she wanted to wait in the hopes of having her training partner BQ in Mississauga.

I don't know what their new gameplan will be now. :?

I don't get this. Why wouldn't they expand the field instead?

*&^%$$(&** I was looking to run a nice sub-4 in Mississauga and now I have to do a sub 3:50. I missed the first 6 weeks of my schedule but wasn't worried. Now, I have to focus a lot more with only 3 weeks of pre-taper training.

Hello people, what day is it?
next up:

This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day

So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day

I was hoping this thread was going to get to at least 3 pages. I even had a complaint about charity runners drafted.

HA!!! I have to admit, I did notice the "mybaa" in the link, but did NOT question it from an "April Fool's" point of view!

Until someone ruined it, I was going to say, because it sold out in record time, so either they increase the cap, or restrict the qualifying times.

For the same distance of running...still beats me that there is a different qualifying times for both sexes :naughty: In this day and age, surely that should be scrapped now? On the flip side...in a work place, if both sexes are doing the same job, then they should get paid the same, and yes am a big advocate of that.

We talk about equality all the time, but it seems to be only when it suits an agenda for a specific thing.

What says you?

I don't think species was the word you were looking for.

 that was a good one!

(although really, i wonder what they would do if they changed it -- i imagine they would use the qualifying standards that were in place on the day you qualified, so a bunch of people wouldn't be   ?)

Its funny because its plausible. I mean it was only two or three years ago that the race didn't fill up, this year it was full in November... If more than 25000 people a year qualify and want to run, sooner or later they're going to have to either change the standards or increase the field like IB said.

nice! in the 5 minutes since I read this I had made the decision to try for a pace 15 seconds/km faster than planned in my upcoming race to meet the "revised" standards and had mentally prepared myself for a potentially horrible last 6 miles.
