Mao?? Mao??? Where are you???

Postby QuickChick » Tue May 18, 2010 8:28 pm

I'm hoping we have a new member soon... come out come out wherever you are...

A lot of you know her already, and those who don't will soon love her...

She's a great runner and a huge nerd.

Welcome from another chem nerd. :) (chemistry ph.d. here but I don't really use it anymore)

I still don't understand who Mao is, though. :)

Is this the famous Mel that's Lisa's best friend from Miss?

Mel has a lot of Chinese lab colleagues, many of whom can't say Mel. They say Mao. She thinks it's pretty funny, so a lot of people actually call her Mao!

And yes, this is the famous Melissa! :)

It must be the "L" sound. My daughter had a Chinese piano teacher for 9 years and still couldn't pronounce her name correctly. Kaytlyn-s/b KATE-LYNN (is how you say it), piano teacher said Kaywinn.

Does Mel really exist? I had some time on my hand and did some investigating. Mel is a runner. Must have done Sporting Life 10k. Searched for Melissa within Lisa's age group. Narrow down to someone in Lisa's pace. Came up with a bib# and checked the race photos. What a SURPRISE. There's 4 photos of QuickChick.

 What??
Maybe because "Melissa" has l, i, s and a in it?
That's weird. She didn't run Sporting Life. She ran Grimsby in March and she ran Mississauga, but there aren't any pics from Missy that I saw. I could always post my bridal party pics... haha!

They're already posted here somewhere. Grand Canyon too. Hi Mel.
