I have been training really well for this lately, I think.

QC...you show some natural ability.

As for me:
Nope never done one.
Have no desire. My friend Mike has won a couple beer mile races. And then...he goes out to celebrate with more beer...and generally feels terrible for the next two days

If QC ran one I would do my best to go cheer :D :D

I'm getting track spikes, and I have jumped back nicely into beer training after Utica. It's my calling!
TDot people, we should meet at a track one night and do this.

I'm with QC.
1. Nope.
2. Yep.

If I wasn't busy with my little guy, I would join a Hash House Harrier kennel.

1) No
2) Would love to try some day!

QC, if you can find a track where we won't get bugged or kicked off for drinking (i.e., NOT Birchmount) then count me in. Maybe East York. It's sketchier over there so people are less likely to care.

Yeah I think we'd get some funny looks from the Kenyans at Birchmount!
East York, Riverdale, or maybe Pantry Park? Riverdale would probably be the best.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

I think we'd be less likely to get hassled at Pantry. And it's closest to home, so we can continue the drinking afterward!

There's a track in Udora - southeast Georgina, north of TO - no one would bug us. In fact, the locals would come and join in the drinking.

1) No (I've done beer races at 21K and 42K but never a beer mile)
2) Yes

richie-rich wrote:i'd yack before the third lap.

The official rules account for this possibility: yack = penalty lap

How do those work, ian?

I have no doubt I would be doing the penalty lap...all the bubbles...all shaken up...

There are no fixed rules for these longer distances, so we just found a convenient place where we could run loops & drink beer and then we arbitrarily decided the schedule, e.g., 1 beer and 10x440m loops, repeated 10 times. I guess it wasn't so much a "race" for us in the sense of getting the best time but an adventure where the "winner" was the one who was in the best shape at the end of it.

The world champion beer-miler lives in my city. I wouldn't stand a chance of winning! I also wouldn't stand a chance of finishing. Consuming the first beer would be ok, but having a second beer 400m later would do me in. I wouldn't survive laps 3 or 4.

While this sounds fun, my extreme beer drinking days are long in the past. Nowadays I'm such a lightweight- I don't think I could even drink that much that fast without running and not get sick.

But I'd love to watch and cheer. :) I do know someone who would probably like this a lot. :)

It's true...I can't imagine much of the alcohol actually hits your system before you're done running - I would think it's the speed of consumption, volume and foam-factor that would do me in!

Not sure I could even handle that! Just the volume of fluid...
