Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Re: Boston Marathon who is running 2011?
Taking the year off. I know it will kill me, but there is another race around the same time I am focusing on. Will be back in 2012. Wonder how long it will take to sell out. Good luck with the registration.
Oh, and there is no more deferring.

I am registering on Monday - will have to tell my students to work silently while Monsieur Hachey registers for Boston again!
Hope I don't forget!

Re: Boston Marathon who is running 2011?
I'm on the fence - had hoped to run Big Sur but too complicated for next year. So Boston might be the one. Taking the day off work? Jen's comment about it filling up by the 24th....Do you think it will fill that fast?
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

There is no way to know for sure, but there is a lot of talk of it filling much faster than before- perhaps days or even hours. Lots of people who qualified for this year didn't get in before registration closed, so they will be quick at the trigger this year. And of course all the talk just makes people even more anxious to get in as early as possible.

Yep, I'm planning on registering on Monday, provided the site isn't too busy that I can't!
Anyone know exactly what info you need to register - the website isnt overly helpful in that regard.
I take it you'll need to tell them when you got your BQ - bib no. or something?

Re: Boston Marathon who is running 2011?
Guess I better get off the fence and make a decision by Monday.
Killerz, if I remember correctly (last ran Boston in 2008) you scroll down a list of qualifying marathons and enter the race and your time (don't think a bib # was needed). If your run isn't on the list, I think you can enter the race info and your time. I think they take your registration and confirm it when all the facts are checked out. As I said, I'm a bit fuzzy on the details but I don't remember it being too complicated.

+1
That's been my plan for a while now, but it's so hard to know that I'm not going to register. Like 2010, it will sort of be a relief when Boston is sold out and I'm no longer semi-rationalising to myself how I could do two marathons close together. If I trained hard enough. And really, really wanted to. Or got a magic potion. Or something...

I don't know which race is on Strider's calendar. For me it's the Vancouver Marathon on May 1, 2011. Going to run the marathon in my home town with my family there to cheer

Who said anything about a Marathon
I have a couple of Goals for 2012 and the first of which is to run a sub-9hr 50 miler, hoping to do it at Seaton April 16/11. That is my focus for the next 6 months.

Re: Boston Marathon who is running 2011?
Runningwild and I are in! We're now $350 US poorer. Now to arrange a hotel, flights and three days of babysitting.
Re: Boston Marathon who is running 2011?
Me!!! We have our hotel booked and I am registered. Now for flights...been looking at flying out of Buffalo. Never done that before.
Lightning
We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

i think you'd save a bundle flying out of buffalo! and since it's not that far from us (cf toronto), it might be worth the inconvenience...
i'm debating making a longer trip of it and road-tripping down... will have to think more about it (and how much free time i have) when the time comes!
