And, this year's tartan colours ....

Image
The Ontario Ensign tartan owes its inspiration to the Provincial Coat of Arms which was granted to the province by Royal Warrant of Queen Victoria in 1868. The yellow is taken from the three golden maple leaves of the lower shield and the red from the cross of St George on the upper. The black and brown come from the bear, the moose and the deer.

Procrastinated last year, and missed out on registration before it sold out. Needless to say, jumped on regi yesterday when it opened up!

Last year they were completely surprised by the response. They were hoping to get 250-300 runners: they had to close registration only a couple of weeks after opening it when they reached 1000. This year it's capped at 2011 entries.

Was a hoot last year, but man don't think for a second those kilts are easy to run in, they are heavy, warm and crappy air circulation.

Kind of sorry they changed the race date to the July long weekend -- this is traditionally a camping weekend for DH and I - have to see if I can talk DH into camping in the Perth area
2014:
Mar - Around the Bay 30 km - Done
May - Sulphur Spring 100 miler - DNS
Sept - Army HM
Sept/Oct - 50 miler
Oct - Pace Bunny - Toronto Scotia Waterfront
Dec - Reggae Marathon in Jamaica

Exactly why I opted for the rental. Not a chance I was going to wear my own kilt for a run
