RM 6th Birthday Games

Postby seuss » Tue Jul 26, 2011 10:29 pm

what's a birthday party without crazy games...?

why not post a link to your very best race report, most red-faced post, the best advice you ever got, best comment on one of your posts, or something that someone else wrote that really spoke to you or entertained you?

off to ponder mine...

RM 6th Birthday Games

Postby Jwolf » Tue Jul 26, 2011 10:37 pm

I can't think of any specific posts or comments right now (maybe I'll find something) but I will say that RM has helped me develop a few very close friendships, plus the huge extended community that I really enjoy. For that I am forever grateful.

what is this - "i am having so much fun just thinking of the party that i will just sit on the couch and grin rather than play stupid games"? sheesh... the nerve of some folks! this is the games thread people!!!!!

so here's my entry for best comment on one of my race reports - summed it up so well:

ChrisL wrote:Holding hands at the finish is like renewing your wedding vows with child birthing pain.

it seems that i have failed to write any race reports since 2009 - or race at all. must do something about that.

I don't have time to find them right now, but Moe's PhotoShopped portraits were great ... ugly, sometimes scary, but great.

In an act of political incorrectness I went out and bought Curious George pyjamas :D

The photoshopped Moe's pics were fascinating in a gruesome way

Those were some geat memories, Turd! Thanks for that!

BMan smells like cat pee.

And then there was another classic dgrant drawing that had a grassy knoll in it... Someone with super-search powers could surely find that one!

Actually, now that I think about it, it should be Twig & Berries (not twigs, unless there's something he's not telling us  ).

woops there it is
Sometimes wardrobe malfunctions are just wardrobe malfunctions. As MidPacker passed me (around 20-22K I guess?) he mentioned that I had a split in the rear of my shorts. Yes, my beloved Lava Flow shorts had a 2 inch crack in the seams. So as soon as I finish, I go over to sit on a picnic table in the med are with Marg. A couple of minutes later, a guy comes over, from the Chiptime van area it looks like. He tells me that I have a split in my shorts, I say yes I have heard that. He says, no in the front too. As we all look down, woops there it is, mostly berries but some twig. I quickly cover up with a shirt after thanking him kindly. And I slink off to the car to change... Worst part was Trixiee gleefully make me re-tell the story 100 times.

I’ll play, Seuss!

My favorite race report

My second favorite race report

Maniacs have always seen in myself what I couldn’t see: the strenght to push through pain and adversity. They had faith in me when I was doubting myself. If I had received a dollar every time a Maniac has told me “you are too hard on yourself”, I would be rich! Over time, Maniacs have helped me see that I could handle whatever life threw at me and for that, I will be forever grateful.

Here is what I’m talking about

I love that wherever I race, there is always at least another Maniac to cheer on me. I love the relay tris I’ve done each year with the Crabby Broad (Jo-Jo), the other sweet chick (Irongirl) and the other frog (Frambo). I love cheering on my fellow Maniacs and seeing their big smile and thumbs up as they pass me. I like that I can be a small part of their own personal victories on race day. I love how I’ve had people to visit with everywhere I travelled in Canada: people I only knew online invited me into their homes, made dinner plans for me, gave me rides to the airport (missed my flight!) or to wherever we had dinner and played tour guide to show me their city. I love the Secret Santa gift exchange: my Secret Santas have always been so thoughtful and I cherished the presents they sent me.

I loved dgrant day and seuss hat day. Those were awesome!!

Mike has posted links to all my favorite threads. I always ROFL when I see the BMan drawing dgrant had made. This has got to be my favorite funny of all RM.

Plans for 2014:
Run for Women 5K, May 11
Ottawa Race Weekend 10K, May 24
