Egg Nog Jog #8

This year was the year for a sub 40 run, the weather was great the course was dry, the hills were still there.
I hurt my knee about about a month or more before the race, and it managed to get back to near normal just in time, however Friday I started to come down with a head/sinus cold. So took some drugs to hopefully open me up and dry me out so I could go as hard as possible for this race.

Showed up early and took my time getting ready and warming up. Ran into RR, West and Doonst before the race, I lined up in my fancy shorts and flats and we were off. I took off faster this year, I was in 8th going down the hill, hitting the miler marker in about 5:08, passed one guy going down then passed another at the start of the hills. After that I was on my own for the rest of the race, I was chasing one guy but he was about a minute ahead and I really had no hope of catching him, and behind me was another minute or so gap. Went through 5k about 18:30.

So the rest of the race went like that, red lined through the rest hills, recover quickly for the last 3k and push to the finish. I wish I could of pushed harder to meet my goal, but at the time I felt I was maxed out, maybe if I had a couple guys around to race would of helped.

Motored in to the finish in 41:06, 6th overall, #1 Master, that is my second best time.
I guess I'll be back again next year for another shot at sub 40.

Hey, you gave it your max, pushed as hard as you could, and that's what matters. Next year sub 40 is there, and yeah maybe with someone breathing down your neck it would've given you that extra push. Good job!

Great results Robbie-T. It was nice seeing you at the race. I felt allot more at home seeing you and another guy in shorts at the start … guess the -5C start scared a few away!
