It's Saturday here in the Philippines.

Postby barebuns1 » Sat Jan 05, 2013 5:54 am

this is probably a really early :) Saturday thread. I went for a beautiful 9km run in Manila along Manila Bay. There were lots of runner's out jogging but I didn't see any serious runners  . One thing is the same, even on the sidewalks they don't follow the rules of the road. Besides dodging bicyclist, dogs and the odd motorcyclist using the sidewalk there is never a dull moment here.

13K for me on a beautiful morning here in Ottawa! It was about -7 with a nice clear sky and lots of sun. The sidewalks were a little lumpy and some of the snow was starting to loosen up, so it made the legs work a little more and I was feeling it towards the end of my run. All in all, a great way to start the day :D

Getting in ATB mode.

25K @ 6:26 pace - very slow. Boy, it didn't feel too bad, but it was more of a struggle than 25K used to be, for sure. :?

Conditions were quite nice! Cloudy, low wind, 3C and pretty clear walks and roads.

15 miles for me this morning with my speedy friend. No speed in the legs today though. A lot of snow/slush on the roads/trail made for a slow run but a great workout. I can already feel it in my legs - you know that "tired/I just ran a lot feeling"? I actually love it when my legs feel that way :).

I find it funny when I run with this fast friend (sub 2:50 marathoner) and we're going fairly slow. I'm so used to seeing her run fast that when I do a sideways glance her way, she looks like she's barely moving (and I feel like I'm working pretty hard). I was teasing her about it the whole way - fun times!

Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday!
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Heading out shortly for an hour run, hopefully about 11km. BF will join me for half an hour (he is just starting to run but as he is 6 foot 4 his strides are long!!). Heading to see les mis this afternoon, cannot wait!

Have a great day :)

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

4 miles done, as I try to regain some consistency in my running (though it will continue to be mixed with snowshoeing for as long as the season lasts!).

Just over 20 km done with two friends. Footing was pretty lousy in most places, but it was mild and the beautiful sun came out. Great run, but certainly used lots of little muscles today.

I couldn't decide if I should do my long run today or tomorrow but eventually decided to do 10k today and go long tomorrow.

Got out for a 10k run today, though my legs were really tired from yesterday's ski day. Sunny and -1, without any wind. A beautiful run down the Niagara River Parkway. Since the recreational trail isn't maintained in the winter, I ran on the road, and everyone moved over and waved. There's something to be said for living in a small town! :-)

By the way, what's the "Keith Richards recovery plan"?
