Looks like they deleted the negative posts about transit on their Facebook page. :p

I don't understand why they can increase service for the sun run but not for the marathon. I get that the sun run is bigger, but isn't the marathon big enough, and wouldn't they want to be seen as supporting it? :/

In the past Translink has always run the Expo and Centennial Lines early on marathon morning. I'm not sure what changed. And BMO Marathon made a point to have transit tickets included in the registration-- I assume that cost them. Very annoying. (The North Shore was another issue, but they never had that service early.)

But they started the seabus early for the sun run. :/

In previous years, I've always been able to take the Skytrain from Burnaby at around 6am. The extra couple hours of service presumably can be had at some cost which apparently is too steep for the race organizers this year (though I can't see how it would be markedly higher than thousands of free transit tickets.) Add this to my earlier list of reasons why this race can't quite get to the next level.

Agreed. It has such potential, but they can't quite do it.

I suspect they run into various road blocks with the various municipal and transit authorities and can't seem to make that extra push to do it right.

They weren't visible on the mobile version for some reason, still there.

On a more positive note, this has been my best training cycle so far, and I feel pretty strong and uninjured. I'm really looking forward to it. :)

Just so this doesn't get missed - I've seen a lot of medals in my time and I've never seen separate mens and womens finisher medals.

I will, but I will be along the marathon course and I won't be staying in one place. I plan to see much of the city on my bike that day. :)

I'll have to figure out how to best time it to see parts of both races.

Anyone want to take bets that they will run out of one or the other too early??

I'm sad to not be participating this year, but with a weekend in Alberta in May, a long weekend in Tofino in June (and maybe with a half marathon in Ucluelet while I'm there), and then a trip to Ireland in August (with a half-marathon in Dublin), adding in Vancouver would be way too much for me. I'll be back next year or the year after and look forward to it.

Sad to hear you can't make it out this year, but excited to hear of a half in Dublin Ireland.
