Foggy Saturday

Postby marymac442 » Sat Oct 19, 2013 9:45 am

Will be heading out shortly for a run to the Trout Lake Farmers market - last market of the season. Looking forward to yummy pastries and some fresh produce. Might be able to stock up on some more blueberries for my freezer.

Oh yeah, and I will run for 6k or so :)

I ran an easy 10 km this morning. The weather was cool, but happily no wind or rain.

Easy 7K for me. I'm still fighting a bit of a cold, but if felt way better than the 3K I did the other day so that's good. I just tried to keep it nice and smooth and it seemed to work.

15K trail run, trying to squeeze every last mile out of these routes before winter arrives.

Today was an easy 10K. It was my last 'long' run before MCM. Now to get to the start and make it to the finish. Back at the beginning of August I got body slammed by an aussie dog. Didn't think much of it but nothing felt right in the weeks after that. Turned out it caused a strain to the tendon at the head of my hamstring as well as a hamstring injury. I've done 3 months of marathon training with a hamstring injury. I had to change to a low mileage training plan, stay away from hills and speedwork, stick to the run plan and have been doing physio and massage regularly. Until mid september I wasn't sure I'd even make it but it has been slowly healing and physio gave me the green light to go ahead. The first few runs were literally run 2 walk 1. Even now I am only run 5 walk 1. MCM is my first full (well NY was last year but that didn't happen). I know I will be slower than I'd like to be and slower then I should be. I know I have to start slow and stay slow to have a chance to make it to the end. But if you dream it, believe it, then you can achieve it. I've kept on. Time now to go get me my marathon medal.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Half this AM. It was cool and snowed a bit as I ran up Wolseley. I had a good run though, but got cold instantly when I stopped at the finish. Currently rolled up in blankets sipping hot tea. I'm glad I kicked my cold and was able to run. Thanks Cold FX.

Ceiligh: man, that sucks. Dogs are such a natural (and sometimes unnatural) hazard for runners. Good luck! And fortitude!

8.5 km for me this morning, out along the harbourfront. Boy, when will they ever finish ripping up and replacing everything along there? How can it possibly take years and years? It's supposed to be done for next year, right?

Happy weekend, everyone! I did my long run today instead of tomorrow, and it was just okay. A little over 22 km, but I never really found my happy place or a pace that felt right. It's my own fault, though - DH and I were out for dinner with a group of gym buddies last night, and I had pizza, which isn't usual the night before a run. Although it was probably digested by the time I headed out, my stomach still felt heavy and uncomfortable and I had to make a bathroom stop around the 10 km point. Every so often I try to challenge my dietary issues, to see if there's been any improvement, but now I know not to challenge that one again. At least not any time soon. It was still good to go out and do the distance; the Fall colours were really nice.

Good luck to all the Scotiabank racers tomorrow! The current forecast is cloudy but no mention of showers or rain, so fingers crossed that's exactly what happens. :)

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

12K run for me, too. Then I went out on my newly repaired/tuned-up commuter bike to run some errands and got soaked. Came home wet and cold. Hot shower... ahhhhhhhh!

15km on trails in Presqu"ile Park this afternoon, with 5 x 1000m at 5K race effort. Good, tough workout.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.
