Participate in a discussion on experiences with injuries

Postby Trish_C » Thu Jan 09, 2014 12:44 pm

Hi all. I’m back again and this time I’m looking for volunteers. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am a PhD researcher studying how people access and use various forms of expertise in managing uncertainties surrounding their own health. I am observing, recording and reporting comments posted publicly on this forum in order to understand how people participate in practices of self-care. Right now, I am looking for participants 18 years of age or older who are willing to discuss their experiences regarding running-related injuries and health issues.

If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please email me at the following address: trish.campbell@rdc.ab.ca. Initial interviews will be conducted through email, so it doesn’t matter where you live. Thanks for considering it!

Thanks for your participation. I have had several volunteers, but could always use more. I just wanted to clarify that all sorts of experience is relevant. Even those who've spent time managing minor injuries or health uncertainties are welcome to participate.

Okay, let's make it a competition! I'm looking to match the number of participants that I have recruited from the face-to-face group, The Red Deer Runners. Right now I need five more Running Mania members. Any takers? Again, you don't have to have had a lot of experiences with serious injury to join the study. Please email me at trish.campbell@rdc.ab.ca if you're interested. Thanks!

It doesn't take much time to answer and you're helping a graduate student get her degree! :D

Maybe we can talk about the time a giant chicken frightened me during the Red Deer Marathon. That's an injury, right?

Depends - are you still scared of chicken?
What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

Are you a good witch, or a bad witch?

I have no comment on the chicken... but I would like to thank all of the volunteers who came forward. Because of your great response, I now have to go back to the Red Deer Runners to throw out a challenge to even out the groups.

Runners are the best!
