Marden Half Marathon $15

Postby Robinandamelia » Thu Dec 12, 2013 9:30 pm

http://www.mardenmarathon.ca/

Marden Half Marathon is having their one day only $15 registration deal again this year. It's tomorrow, the 13th of December...Hmmm Friday the 13th. Anyway, if anyone interested. I pondered it last year but didn't register but going to this year.

Me too. I also saw a couple other Maniacs back for a second $15 run at this.

I'll be sure to introduce myself, Robin, as we will see each other daily mid-August.

If you are running around Marathon Pace rather than all out to prep for Boston, I will likely be doing the same. I figure around 1:45:00 for me.

I had dreams of a repeat of three PBs from ATB, Marden Half and Toronto Marathon from last spring but taking 3 minutes off my ATB PB broke me. Plantar Fasciitis since and I am looking to get healthy for Toronto. Some current imbalances/inflexibility have me abusing my left foot at high speeds. MP should be OK Saturday then I taper.

Runners to reel me in from lofty race day ambitions that will strike me Saturday are welcomed.

I only saw Rob.... He was super fast. Tried to find Anne, and even asked a woman in the ladies room wearing the shirt if it was her....it wasn't :(

Great race would definitely run this one again! Beautiful day too.

Awesome day for racing, nice and cool and clear skies. I had a great race, finished strong, a PB, great motivator on a challenging course.

Tailgate party afterwards with Double-Bellybuster and crew. Perfect morning.

Update on me since a few of you saw me suck out and withdraw at 4K. I was babying my left foot that I was making worse with the quick pace. Worked out well - no damage and I was able to run for three hours today on soft muddy trails that are more appropriate for it.

With some Physio and soft surfaces, I still hope to PB in the Toronto Marathon in three weeks.

See you all same place next year.

Hahha I heard about the bathroom questioning.

I think I am the lone person who hates this race, great set up. nice food. I was the singular person in my group of friends who didn't PB, in fact I did worse than last year. Road races should be flat. Trail races hilly, and never the two should meet. Perhaps I will be there next year, but I will be on my bike.
Yes I am bitter.

During the short time he was within sight, I saw a marshall send him down the wrong route as well. The PB time includes that wasted U-turn.

Yeah I saw that too...was wondering what was going on there!

When he "wizzed" past me, I was still on the out and he was on his way back...

I wizzed before and after but not during this race. (I'm sure Doonst was wondering)
