Freedom Trail Thursday

Postby Avis » Thu Jul 10, 2014 8:18 am

I see I'm starting the daily thread again today! I did my 1:1's in the Boston Public Garden this morning. The weather is perfect, sunny, breezy and mild. Later, I'm off to explore some of the old historic sites, including Paul Revere's house. Tomorrow is our last day here. :( Have a good day, all you Maniacs!

Sounds like you're having a great vacation Avis!

I did a 45 minute walk to and from daycare with the double chariot this morning (so much easier on the way back with 31 lbs less to push!) and have boot camp this afternoon. Much cooler than on Tuesday!

Just about to head out for my run. It's going to be smoking hot here again today so I want to get the run done before it has a chance to get too warm out there.

Had a really nice 8.5 km run last night at Runpub in pretty much perfect conditions. This morning was a half hour on the elliptical followed by some upper body weights and core work. I was tempted to run this morning - it was beautiful outside - but decided not to push my luck by trying three runs in two days. My foot has been okay this week and I want to keep it that way! Have a wonderful day, everyone. :)

15ish k wandering around in Winnipeg.

No running on the Riverwalk for a while so switched to plan B. My single track connector trail to Churchill Drive was above water (just) so I was able to do my planned run through Churchill Park and back along Lyndale Drive.

Now I'm hanging out at McD's enjoying free wifi.

Lovely 8.5K. I was going to do some hill repeats, and then it dawned on me that my trail race was on Saturday, so I decided to keep it easy.

Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Met ironmike at Kits pool today. It was the first time I saw him since IMCDA. 8)

I had a good swim. I'm still pretty slow, but I manged to get in just under 2K in the hour. It is feeling better each time-- I'm sure it will get even better once I'm swimming 3-4 times/week.

I know a rare posting in the daily thread by me; this was too good of a run not to share... I had a great 12K run on the seawall and into Stanley Park before work this morning. Temps were just right, but it is shaping to be another warm one in YVR today.

Great workout tonight at the track. I decided that I want to relearn what 5K race pace feels like, as lately I've just felt so out of touch with racing and with how I used to feel at various distances. I didn't really know what pace to shoot for, so I estimated 4:20/km and decided to do 4 x 1km. I didn't do too badly- 4:14/4:12/4:11, and then Pat suggested I try to actually do the last one in closer to 4:20, so I did 4:18 and it felt a lot slower (but still hard). I think next week I will try 5, and aim for about 4:15 for all of them. At the very least, at the end of each rep I would say it did feel like 5K effort- I wasn't totally dying as I crossed the line, but I was breathing hard throughout. I walked 200m between each, so about 2-3 minutes of recovery.
