Re: London Marathon Sunday 23rd April 4:30am kick off
Wow...what a race today by the elite field. 50,000 runners took part in the 37th London Marathon. A record 253,930 people entered the public ballot last May, as demand for places in this year’s event far outstripped availability.
No record for the men, but in the women's race Keitany has set two world records in this race already:
1:19:43 at 25km
1:36:05 at 30km
Top two timings for the women's race
Incredible times at #LondonMarathon!
1 Mary Keitany 2:17:01 (women-only WR)
2 Tirunesh Dibaba 2:17:56

Great times in London.
Looks like Paula's non-women only record might go down soon, too.
Krista Duchene represented Canada- unfortunately she slowed down a lot in the second half of the race and was far off her best.

Re: London Marathon Sunday 23rd April 4:30am kick off
.....The reason why there are two different women’s world records is due to debate about whether or not women’s elite races that start with men provide an unfair advantage.
The lone elite Canadian in London, Krista DuChene, had a tough race. After a quick opening 10K, she began to slow, getting dropped from a group of American and British women. She finished in 2:43:31, well off her 2:28:32 PB. She is the second fastest female marathoner in Canadian history. She did win the masters category in London, however. DuChene turned 40 in January, a year after becoming an Olympian for the first time.
Here are her splits:

You really should cite your sources and provide a link when you cut and paste from another site.

It's bad form anywhere to copy something and make it seem like you wrote it.
It's also reasonable to expect that someone might want to link to where you got the words in order to read more.

It really has nothing to do with what kind of site this is or isn't. The point of citing your sources or providing a link is so that readers (here) know it's not your original writing. Skimming through makes it look like you've written up that commentary.

Did I mention anywhere in my most or allude to it that I wrote it? If NOT, then to try to read into my post and make silly assumptions. Thanks for coming out though

Re: London Marathon Sunday 23rd April 4:30am kick off
Anytime someone posts in a forum, it's assumed that the person wrote it unless the words are quoted (or in quotes).
Like I said- it's just bad form not to quote and it's useful to actually post the link where you got the info.
If I hadn't already seen a large sampling of your writing elsewhere on this forum, I would have assumed that was your writing.

I could think of other words if you feel troll is crass. I have the utmost respect for Habs and knowing who she is, I take that comment with a grain of salt. So... using you analogy of Alberta, Jwolf, CMMH and I are in are all in BC, we must be a pot heads.

Re: London Marathon Sunday 23rd April 4:30am kick off
If you haven't seen Krista D's post-race interview, or read her blog post, I recommend you do. It's worth the watch/read. She's a class act - so gracious, honest & such an inspiring role model. As my kids become more and more active in sport, I see how it can bring out the best and worst in a lot of people. People like Krista teach us how to compete not just with determination & grit but also humility & dignity. It's a fine balance. I've always been a huge fan of Canada's marathon mom. Now I'm an even bigger one .
I'd post the link but I can't figure out how to do it on my iPad!!!

We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Krista is indeed an inspiration to a lot of young girls and women who choose not to make excuses or rely on equality only when it suits an agenda. Her perseverance and attitude towards running is second to none. 1. Race time that rival a lot of men - check, 2. Running mom - check, 3. class and not crass - check.
Lets not forget Lanni Marchant too. I have had the pleasure of being in the same races as these women a number of times, and hi-fived at the end. I remember Lanni commenting on "how flexible" I am as she walked byme during stretches at the end of a race recently.
