dgrant at the Springbank Half

Postby dgrant » Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:29 pm

8)

Somedays it just all really comes together!

Doonst and I met up along the 401 to carpool to London (at 5:40am  ) and had a good uneventful drive and arrival at the race. Plenty of time to pick up our gear and shiver a bit in the morning chill.

We started together and did the first 3K in just under 15 minutes. After a very quick stop to water the trees, I picked up the pace and hit the 4:35ish pace I wanted for the whole race. Happily the whole thing just went off without any drama, and before I knew it I was climbing the last (and sort of only) hill in the final kilometre.

Final time 1:38:30, a new PB by more than two minutes. I really wanted to break into the 1:30s this year, so I'm just elated. Still 8 races to go in the Fall Tour, but I won't really get a chance to "race" again until October, so I'm going to soak this one up... And it's nice to have bragging rights over my boy doonst for at least 13 days!!!

I don't know if I'd do this race again only because it's a bit on the smaller scale side of the spectrum to drive 2+hrs each way, but I did have a lot of fun and would really recommend it to any runners in the area. A great longsleeve tech shirt for only a $40 entry fee. :D

A couple of fine ambassadors of the sport (and the sport of trash-talking!) you guys are. Great PB today, Dave! Congratulations!

Oh, I so want to be in Paris for the Grand Finale!

Whooo Hoooo...

Glad that London could allow you the PB of all PB's...

As I mentioned in Sheldon's report, you guys were on my mind this morning as I was running in the absolute North end of the city.. By the time I was back home, you were probably in Guelph

Glad that you enjoyed the course... I've run it too many times to count.

Well Done Dave & soak up that win... well earned & well deserved.

Great race Dave. Also excellent pic. It is good to see pics of you when you aren't running once in awhile so as to see the NON-GAME face!
