Robbie-T @ Egg Nog Jog

Postby Robbie-T » Sun Dec 10, 2006 10:38 pm

Like Doonst I feel like this is my hometown race, I've run this race 3x, more then any other race I've run. It's my favourite because it is so unique, challenging, fun and so well organized.

My goal was to finish top 20 according to last years results. 4:30 avg pace 48:00. Last year I ran 51:32.

I arrived early, trying to decide to wear shorts or tights, I wanted to see anyone else wearing shorts. I was almost decided that I would wear tights then I saw DGrant in shorts, that was enough to sway my thoughts and I wore shorts. It turned out to be the prefect decision, it was a beautiful December day.

I lined up at the front, and took off with the rabbits. I hit the 1 mile marker at 5:40!! I didn't look at my Garmin too many times this race, it didn't really matter, from one km to the next the terrain was different, I ran on perceived effort, it also helps that I ran this course a few times before.

I felt good through the rollers, caught up to a few guys that took off too fast. Started up the big hills and held good pace, there was a bag piper at the top of the hill, but I don't really remember him. Finally out of the hills and onto the semi-flats, I knew I was only 3-4km away and the hill part was over, now it was all about getting the pace down and trying to catch a couple more runners.

Finished 44:46 good enough for 2nd place category hardware, a Egg Nog Jog key chain and $35 GC to Feet In Motion.

Smashed my goal!! This time would of landed me 5th place overall last year!!

Fastest km 3:34
Slowest km 5:04
Pretty big range for a 10.8k road race!!

4:09 pace
21st overall (one second from top 20)
20th gender
3rd in my age group 35-40

Monster, monster result. I don't know how you could bang off 5:04 on that sixth km.

I can definitely see you starting to regularly win your division in races of this size starting in '07.

Like I said in my report, I think that this might be your most impressive result yet. You killed it, you destroyed it, you murdered it, you...

Outstanding Robbie.
