Robbie-T @ the Egg Nog Jog
The race I look forward to all year long, the marathon training, the half training all part of a full year of training to prepare me for the Egg Nog Jog.
This is my 4th year here, and my goal was to run 2 minutes better then last year. Last year I had a great run and as the race grew closer I knew it would be no easy feat for my feets.
I got to the race pretty early, prepared myself, chatted to a few friends then headed out for a warm up. I was feeling good today. Put on my race outfit and made my way to the start. Saw my happy family ready to see me off, slipped off my pants and found a spot up by RunDMC at the front.
We were off, 3:3x km's for the start, about a 5:30 mile. Pat came up beside me and said hi. Slowly Pat and Run slid away and I was running my own race. I passed a few people through the hills, I was feeling pretty strong. I knew I'd be close to my goal time but I knew I couldn't let up. Up the big hill, 4:45 avg pace for that km, no bag piper!!
At 7k I felt comfortable, and pushed it for the finish. I remembered to turn on to the highway and not go straight through as I usually do on my training runs. There was a few guys in front that I tried hard to catch but I couldn't make any ground on them, I think we all had the same strategy in mind. 39:5x at 10k the marshal yelled out, I was a bit shocked by that. Down the steep hill round the corner and finished.
final time 42:44 3:58 avg pace (2:02 better then last year)
16th overall, 16th male
4th in 35-39 age group
1:24 behind RunDMC
39 seconds behind Pat
Great races guys!!
This year is now over, and a pretty great year too, all PB's, I'll continue my runs but wait until January to start ramping up for the road to Boston.
btw anyone pick up a calendar they were selling there? I did, a picture of the start of the Egg Nog Jog from 2006 is featured for December, and I was in it Nice running calendar if anyone is interested.

Awesome stuff. Way to fight for it Robbie!
Keep slippin' those pants off and I'm sure you'll make it into a few more calendars.
Congratulations on yet another PB.

Very nice Robbie, as usual. You are still getting faster, how long can you keep that up? Man, I used to try to chase your year-old times, no way anymore. So it got me thinking how I could possibly spin this into a victory. I finally beat your 2 your old time? You were 2:02 faster than last year, nope that beats my 1:40. So when I got home, I entered all the data from our last 3 ENJs into my Cray supercomputer (yes I painted it orange) and set it to find me an angle. 50 and a half minutes later, it came up with this: I ran my age! 50 1/2 minutes at age 50.5, don't worry you'll do it someday I'm sure. (39 at 39?).
next up:
This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day
So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day
This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day
So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day

Wow, that is an awesome result Rob! Way to go. You say you're going to do something and you just DO it. I'm very impressed.

Good Job Man - Calendar Boy - Love that, you need to change your handle.
Enjoy the holiday season and the limited time off training. Sub 3:00 at Boston is more than possible for you, but will require some tough training. It's going to be an interesting winter/spring.
