For the Inquiring Minds: CTRR 2009 - Team "Fundulators&

Postby CeilidhOnTheRun » Sun Jan 18, 2009 3:20 pm

Just wanted to give a quick update for those who are wondering.

One of the two submitted teams got a place at Cabot Trail Relay Race 2009, the other is on the waiting list. So for those who are interested, we have a full team, but I would love to maintain a list of potential alternates, should someone happen to drop out between now and May. If you are interested in a place on that alternate list, reply here or send me a PM or email.

http://www.cabottrailrelay.com/

This is not an RM team persay, as we have many recruits joining us from the "outside world"

Team "Fundulators" Roster:

1 Robert
2 Trish
3 Hanh
4 Dennis
5 Heather
6 Brian
7 Krista
8 Emma
9 Ian
10 Joy
11 Carolyn
12 Breanne
13 Nicole
14 Jeffrey
15 Mike
16 Karen C
17 Karen O

Potential alternates:
Angela
Nick

Not that I want to be an alternate, as it's in Halifax and I'm in Calgary, what is CCTR?

Ok, now I want to do it... I lived in NS for most of my life (Greenwood to Digby) and never got a chance to even drive on the Cabot trail.

OK, so, let me think... here's the deal.. put me on the team....pay for my flight....I'll rent the car.... and we're set...

do we have a deal?

You lived in Greenwood? I did too, off and on from when I was 4 (1980) until I finished high school in 1994.

Whoah....m'dear...didn't you go to Middleton High? How'd you live in Greenwood and go to Middleton and not WK?

Nope, I was in the PMQ's in Greenwood, so that makes me go to Dwight Ross and West Kings.

I went to Russell C for grade 3, AVM Morphee for grade 4&5, then we moved out of PMQ's for 6-12, and yes, I went to Middleton schools are I was just over the county border.

I was wondering that too, but as a late arrival to The Valley I never really understood all the HS feeders etc.

You've probably already figured this out but CTRR is a very fun and crazy 25-hour running race event, wherein you support 16 other team members and yourself run a segment of the Cabot Trail, in costume, and on little sleep, while trying to outdo and outwit the other 65 teams in both team spirit and speed, and maintaining sportsmanlike composure. It's also de rigeuer to cheer for and support the other teams.
Did I mention it's a blast & a race like no other. Oh, and the scenery is fabulous.
I was kind of sceptical the first year, but it's easy to get hooked. Yes, it's kind of expensive, but make it into vacation and you won't regret it....

I'm thrilled to be running it for my third straight year!!

I think it was best described not as a race, but as 17 races in one! The rolling circus that is CTRR is an amazing thing to experience. This will be my third year running it as well, and I'm stoked!

I had a dream about CTRR last night - we were making our way to Ingonish (although it looked more like Cheticamp in my dream) to the start of my leg. I guess it was provoked by reading Trish's post last night before we went to bed. This is going to be a long 4 months if the dreams have started already!

Did I mention how thrilled I am to be doing CTRR this year, and even so much more that Bman is coming too?!!!!

If you're an hour ahead or behind the relay, you have no idea that it's even happening. Suddenly there are runners all over, tons of traffic, cars lining the shoulders, and lots of odd people in all sorts of garb (ranging from normal to costumed), and a loudspeaker system blasting tunes and the announcer calling out whatever odd facts he knows about people, the trail, news updates, welcoming runners, etc. Then suddenly, back into the peace and serenity of the trail. It's awesome!

And if the weather is good, it's even better.

Aw, you'll be missed dude, as will many others. It never even crossed my mind that a team wouldn't get in. I guess I was taking it for granted.

Yes, I also feel bad for you guys. It would have been a blast with both teams there! Well next year we know you guys will be in, maybe the Fundulators will be on the outside looking in.

I'm speechless....

At first I thought I was going to spit coffee over the laptop, but then I was afraid of throwing up over it instead! Then a shiver of foreboding...

Aliant!!! For the love of god man!

Dealing with the devil, or one his minions, per se, I warn you!

Oh, how did the date go?
