Robbie-T @ Re-fridgee-8er 8 Miler

Postby Robbie-T » Sun Feb 15, 2009 3:23 pm

Weather for mid February races don't get better then this. I was able to run in short tights. I've done this race before and it was a blizzard and last year it was a ice rink.

At 1 Mile I was 6:05, at 10k I was 37:56, in between I passed a bunch of guys, no one caught me.

I finished the 8 miler in 49:30, Garmin said the course was 13.02k, 8 miles converted is 12.8k so maybe it was a bit long if it was 13k I ran 3:48 pace if it was really 12.8k I ran 3:52 pace. My goal was 3:45-3:50 pace, either way I felt pretty good, at times I felt I couldn't get out of Tempo gear, maybe it was because the course was rather hilly, especially the last 2k up hill. With the excellent weather a few fast guys showed up, one guy sporting a Speed River singlet.

I finished 10th overall and 2nd in my age group 35-39

Not sure I'm ready for a sub 2:00 ATB run but I'm close.

Talked with CGraham and West Grey Runner, both had great races too.

That's sweet Robbie. 10 K time is faster than your PB, as usual you are better than ever. ATB time, well its always best if its not a sure thing. You have a way of showing up to perform on big race days.
next up:

One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day

So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day

Like the others said 37:56 for the 10k mark is smoking (especially for a hilly course) and finishing 2nd in your age group and 10th overall are great results! You keep on improving! Keep up the good work and good luck with ATB!!

Wow, good work Robbie. You've got lots of time before ATB- I think it's good to be a bit unsure at this point- you'll be super motivated for the next 6 weeks!
