HBC Run for Canada 10k (Halifax, Nova Scotia)
Author: qmp
Date: 2005-07-27
The first year for this race in Halifax. The 2005 course was mainly flat with only one major hill (Km #8, Queen St). Km #5 was in the interior Point Pleasant Park. Very Nice.
Things I noticed that I wasn't too fond of.
Pre-Race Advertising: None???, I happened on to this race on the net the night before.
Race Day Registration: No signs on any of the tents. Long lines. people not sure what they were standing in line for. "Is this the registration line up?" "I think so" It wasn't... grrrr
Gun start w/ chip time. You did not run over a mat at the begining, only at the end. My chip time was 49:10, My garmin 48:49. Not a big deal, just a little surprise for a timed event.
Water Stations: Water tasted weird (metallic). Nuf said.
Results tent/board; None (or I couldn't find it!), I had to wait until they were on-line. I didn't like walking around to the unmarked tents to see if there results in there somewhere.
Internet Map: It was incorrect during the park phase.
Would I race it again?
Yes, but I will get my race kit the day before and take some water with me.
Waiting to get the results on-line is OK by me. Just wish I knew that before I started looking around for results.
