Run for the Grapes Half Marathon (St. Catharine's, Ontario)
Author: dgrant
Date: 2006-10-02
Date: Oct. 1 2006
Location: St Catharines ON (Niagara Region)
Cost: $42 / $47 late
Shirt: Longsleeve Cotton
Field: About 400 in the half marathon, pretty standard distribution of fast and slow.
Course: Mostly country roads through farms and vineyards. Most roads not closed to cars, but there were very few motorists and the ones I saw were courteous. Pretty flat, a few very minor rolling hills halfway through and at the end.
Aid Stations: Every 3K or so. Gatorade and water. Fruit, donuts, pitas, frozen yogourt after the race.
Timing: Chip mats at both start and finish.
I enjoyed this race. I'd put it in the middle of the pack among the Ontario halfs I've done. No frills, fans, or hype... but a course you could really race for a fast time.
